Persystent Software Secures Patent

For PC recovery

Persystent Software, developer of automated PC recovery solutions – restoring corrupted, changed, or missing operating system and application files in 30 seconds or less – has secured a patent for its innovative technology.

The patent, entitled System and Method for Management of End User Computing Devices, documents how the company’s client-side application facilitates server storage and management of PC files used to achieve rapid restoration of personal computers to a usable state. In practical terms, the patent helps protect the company’s unique approach to how it ensures that end-user PCs are always work-ready, giving it a sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace.

There has never been a solution that can restore a failed PC to good working order with the speed our software can deliver,” said Dhaval Patel, co-founder and lead development manager at Persystent Software. “To deliver such a rapid recovery, our intelligent software creates and maintains a ‘persistent image’ on the client device that is reset with a simple system reboot. With that said, our software is flexible enough to take into consideration certain approved changes in a PC’s configuration an end user might make. We are quite pleased to see that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has validated the uniqueness of our approach.”

The Persystent Software solution can recover a failed or degraded PC whether the operating system can engage or not, and regardless of whether the device is connected to a corporate network. During the pre-boot sequence the software automatically compares the current configuration to an approved ‘desired state’ and quickly repairs any damage that has occurred. This reduces calls to an organization’s help desk by empowering the end user to solve common problems caused by user error, introduction of a virus, system crash, or other problems.

In addition to the patented PC recovery technology, Persystent Software also enables organizations to rapidly provision new machines to end users by automating the imaging process from end-to-end. Further, Persystent Software enables IT organizations to ensure compliance with company or government mandated policies by automatically resetting PC configurations during each reboot cycle.

States Persystent Software president and CEO Joe Loughry: “As PCs are increasingly relied upon for business productivity, bigger portions of an IT department’s time and money are spent keeping PCs up and running. In today’s economy, our customers are looking for a solution that can address both existing and emerging PC management challenges. They need technology that can accelerate the deployment of new systems, like Windows 7, and they need technology that can help them do more with less, in part, by reducing calls to the help desk. Our software helps IT departments free up resources to focus on strategic initiatives to help drive the business.”

The patented technology can be found throughout the entire Persystent Software product line that support a range of market segments, from small businesses to large enterprises (from 20-200,000 PCs) which includes:

  • Persystent Solo, a stand-alone solution designed for PCs that are not connected to a company-supported, managed IT network. It is ideal for small businesses with up to 25 computers, remote office and mobile “road warrior” PC users as well as the managed service providers (MSPs).
  • Persystent Edge, a preconfigured solution for small businesses with 25-250 PCs, which enables a quick server deployment to maintain and control end-user PCs.
  • Persystent Suite, a server-based PC offering for organizations with 250-1,000 PCs, which enables IT departments to control PC damage, reduce help desk calls and energy consumption, enforce compliance, and improve the success rate of software patches and updates.
  • Persystent Enterprise, a highly scalable PC recovery solution that ensures business continuity and compliance and supports policy compliance, disaster-recovery planning and virtualization. It is ideal for large organizations with more than 1,000 PCs.
