Emulex 10GbE NICs and 16Gb FC HBAs Chosen by IBM

This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 3, 2009 at 3:18 pmEmulex Corporation has entered into a technology agreement with IBM Corp. to deliver industry-leading storage and networking solutions, including 10Gb/s Ethernet Network Interface Cards (NICs) and 16Gb/s Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) for the entire IBM Power Systems product line.

Emulex connectivity solutions are optimized for virtualized server environments, allowing customers to achieve higher consolidation ratios, thereby lowering power requirements and giving customers a reason to invest in their IT infrastructures, even during challenging economic times. Emulex’s advanced virtualization features combined with the IBM Power platform, PowerVM virtualization technology and the IBM AIX operating system enable data center customers to virtualize enterprise applications with uncompromised performance and scalability.

On August 27, 2009, Emulex announced that it was providing a Virtual
Fabric Adapter based on its OneConnect UCNA architecture for flexible Ethernet network connectivity
in IBM BladeCenter HS22 blade servers.
The company also announced on August
24, 2009 a multi-year, cross-licensing patent agreement
with Big Bue, enabling Emulex to accelerate the integration of its architecture within IBM platforms.
Emulex said to have has the
largest installed base of FC HBAs in IBM SANs worldwide.
