NetApp Offers Zero Investment Promise With V-Series
To improve efficiency of EMC and HP SAN environments
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 19, 2009 at 3:11 pmIn an effort to help customers maximize the value of their existing storage investments, NetApp, Inc. announced its Zero Investment Promise Program (ZIP Program) to help EMC and HP customers improve the efficiency of their storage area network (SAN) environments.
The ZIP Program enables EMC and HP customers to achieve greater efficiency on SAN storage systems that they already purchased and deployed by recovering capacity that can be inefficiently used and helping reduce the ongoing rate of storage consumption. Under terms of the ZIP Program, customers with EMC and HP SANs that deploy NetApp V-Series could reduce storage capacity and the associated costs of their existing third-party storage investments. NetApp is so confident about this that NetApp is willing to put it in writing.
NetApp’s unique portfolio of storage efficiency technologies enables customers to perform data management tasks faster; use less storage; and at the same time reduce their overall power, space, and cooling costs in their data centers. NetApp storage efficiency is especially beneficial for a wide range of application environments. Based on third party total cost of ownership (TCO) studies, NetApp customers have a 38% lower TCO for VMware, 39% lower for Oracle, 44% lower for file services, and 55% lower for SAP.
"Improved storage efficiency helps our customers relieve the pressure of IT budget reductions and minimize the risks of new SAN projects," said Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing at NetApp. "If a customer already owns an EMC or HP SAN, NetApp V-Series can free additional storage within their existing storage systems without the need to replace their current storage investment. We’re so confident in our storage efficiency capabilities that we will promise customers, under the terms of the ZIP Program, that if they use NetApp V-Series to augment their EMC and HP SAN environments and don’t see savings, we’ll let them keep the equipment at no charge."
NetApp V-Series is an open storage controller family that unifies NetApp and third-party storage under a common storage architecture. V-Series customers can take full advantage of the powerful features of Data ONTAP such as deduplication, thin provisioning, and Snapshot(TM) technology to help improve storage efficiency and simplify data management.
Availability and Requirements
Direct customers in the United States and Canada that implement a new V-Series system in their EMC or HP SAN environments are eligible to take advantage of the NetApp ZIP Program today. NetApp pledges, based on the terms of the ZIP Program, that by deploying V-Series users will reduce their physical storage requirements and potentially receive a payback on their V-Series investment. The ZIP Program agreement will stipulate the agreed-upon storage savings and price of the equipment and provide customers a free 90-day trial of the equipment to realize storage efficiencies and help reduce operating costs. NetApp Professional Services will partner with customers to help the trial period be as smooth as possible. If after 90 days upon receipt of the equipment the agreed-upon storage savings is achieved, the customer will issue a purchase order and be invoiced by NetApp at the agreed-upon price of the equipment. If after 90 days the customer files an approved claim that the storage savings is not achieved, the customer will keep the equipment at no charge. In all cases, customers are responsible for all applicable taxes.
Note: The Zero Investment Promise Program (ZIP Program) is limited to the terms set forth in www.netapp.com/zip.
