ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 ($14,995)
A tower now with five 500GB RDX removable disk cartridge drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 15, 2009 at 1:15 pmProStor Systems announced the general availability of the new ProStor InfiniVault Model 5. ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 meets the storage needs of the SMB (small-to-medium businesses) that may have two different data retention requirements, and where two copies of the data are necessary for disaster protection.
The ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 is an integrated storage appliance in a tower design with 5 slots for RDX removable disks and a 1.8TB file area that can manage 250 million files. Using 500GBRDX removable disk cartridges, ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 is able to keep 2.5TB (5TB compressed) data online (in RDX removable disk cartridges) and an infinite amount of data capacity offline. In an application requiring two separate retention periods, the Model 5 can be configured to provide self protection while allowing RDX removable disks to be sent offsite for disaster protection. This makes the Model 5 the best choice in these applications and an ideal complement to the ProStor InfiniVault Model 3 which is designed with 700GB of file area and only a single retention period when self protecting data.
The ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 is the most cost-effective solution for long-term preservation of data (5 years or more) for a small-to-medium business or organization, and includes a rich feature set critical to industry-specific data retention requirements, including HIPAA (for healthcare), SEC Rule 17a-4 (stockbrokers and dealers), Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Federal Rules for Civil Procedure and more. To date, ProStor InfiniVault is being used in a variety of markets including finance, government, healthcare, enterprise content management and gaming.
Henry Baltazar, storage analyst at The 451 Group, observes: "Data archiving and compliance continue to be difficult challenges for SMB customers given that most products on the market today cater to enterprise customers with much larger budgets. With the release of the ProStor InfiniVault Model 5, small compliance-sensitive businesses now have a relatively low cost platform to help them meet their long term data retention needs."
"Just because a company is small does not mean that their active archiving needs are non-existent. They demand the same level of reliability and feature set. However, their requirements for size are modest compared to those of larger enterprises. With the ProStor InfiniVault Model 5, that customer does not need to make any compromises," added Arun Taneja, Founder and Consulting Analyst, Taneja Group.
"ProStor InfiniVault continues to gain recognition as the leading alternative to tape and optical storage solutions, and we are pleased to introduce the ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 to our ever-growing customer base," said Frank Harbist, president and CEO for ProStor Systems. "The ProStor InfiniVault line offers unmatched capabilities for automated compliance, e-Discovery, disaster protection and encryption, which are all ongoing concerns for the SMB market to efficiently and legally retain their data." He concluded: "I’m also proud that we have been able to remove cost and increase both ease-of-use and the rich functionality of ProStor InfiniVault, allowing us to make the lowest cost systems for long term data retention even more affordable for our customers."
With the addition of the ProStor InfiniVault Model 5 to the product line (MSRP $14,995), ProStor Systems is reducing its MSRP for the ProStor InfiniVault Model 3 to target smaller businesses and single application environments and is now attractively priced at $9,995. In addition, the company announced lower MSRP for their expandable, rack mounted systems the Model 30 ($29,995) and Model 100 ($69,995). All pricing is effective immediately. As an additional cost-saving benefit, buyers of the new Model 5 can request an initial system ‘fill-up’: 5 RDX removable disk cartridges (2.5TB of uncompressed capacity) will be added to the Model 5 by ProStor at no additional charge. (For new Model 5 systems ordered between 10/12/2009 and 12/30/2009 and shipped by December 31, 2009; ProStor InfiniVault Models 3, 30, and 100 are not included in this offer.
