As part of an initiative named CarbonNeutral hosting
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 13, 2009 at 2:34 pm3PAR announced that 3PAR Cloud-Agile partner Attenda Limited, the ‘Always On Managed Services’ provider, has become the first European member of the 3PAR Cloud-Agile program to offer its clients 3PAR Cloud-Agile: Assured and 3PAR Cloud-Agile: Secured services.
Attenda is also the first 3PAR Cloud-Agile partner to deliver these services as part of a sustainability initiative it calls CarbonNeutral hosting.
Accredited by The CarbonNeutral Company – the world’s leading carbon offset and management business – Attenda is already a CarbonNeutral office based on a net zero CO2 emissions rating. Attenda’s new CarbonNeutral hosting programme, in combination with Cloud-Agile: Assured and Cloud-Agile: Secured services, offers clients secure virtual private array and disaster recovery services built on a hyper-efficient, green utility storage infrastructure powered by the 3PAR InServ Storage Server platform.
Attenda leverages industry-leading, green storage and server virtualization technologies from 3PAR, VMware, and Cisco to deliver Attenda Real Time Infrastructure and Cloud Services platforms. Together, these products deliver unprecedented business agility through the timely deployment of computing resources, storage, and networking with additional capacity when needed most. Attenda is the first 3PAR Cloud-Agile program member to offer Cloud-Agile: Assured and Cloud-Agile: Secured services as part of a carbon neutral hosting programme. With the introduction of these new services, Attenda has expanded its offerings to enhance the security, agility, and cost-efficiency of its services while remaining loyal to its environmental responsibility policies and helping clients achieve their Green IT goals.
"This dedication to environmental responsibility is something we share with 3PAR, a company widely regarded for its own green technology," said Simon Hansford, VP of Service Strategy at Attenda. "The CarbonNeutral accreditation is an integral part of our Social Responsibility Programme, which emphasizes minimizing the environmental impact of all our business activities at Attenda. We are delighted to join this important initiative with 3PAR Cloud-Agile: Assured and 3PAR Cloud-Agile: Secured services in a ‘first of its kind’ offering."
3PAR Cloud-Agile: Assured leverages 3PAR Remote Copy and gives Attenda the ability to offer cost-effective, flexible, and robust remote data replication, disaster recovery, and autonomic data backup to end users.
3PAR Cloud-Agile: Secured employs the combination of 3PAR Utility Storage and 3PAR Virtual Domains to give Attenda the ability to deliver virtual private array services. A virtual private array offers clients high performance levels while providing secure segregation within a shared, virtualized hardware platform that is protected from unauthorized access, monitoring, and control.
"Virtualization has become an important option for organizations looking to deploy IT infrastructure in a cost-effective way while ensuring their business remains nimble," said Eric Sheppard, Program Director for European Storage at IDC. "Attenda and 3PAR’s partnership is intended to show that the use of virtualization can do just that without making sacrifices to the services the IT department must provide to internal and external customers."
"The cloud computing ecosystem has a lot of room for growth, and the delivery of differentiated cloud-based services is just one exciting development," said David Scott, President and CEO for 3PAR. "Another area to watch is the intersection between Green IT and cloud computing. We are excited that Attenda is the first to take full advantage of the opportunity to leverage 3PAR Utility Storage to offer cloud-based virtual private array and disaster recovery services that are agile, efficient, cost-effective, and also green."
