RAID, Inc. Supports 2TB SATA Drives and 8Gb FC
In Falcon IV Series
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 9, 2009 at 3:49 pmRAID, Inc. announced the qualification of enterprise 2TB 7,200 RPM SATA-II drives from Hitachi in their latest Falcon IV series of customized storage solutions.
The Falcon IV line is available in 2U 12-Bay, 3U 16-bay, and 4U 24-bay base units, and is scalable to a maximum of 112 SAS / SATA-II drives using redundant expansion chassis. With today’s announcement, users now have the ability to scale up to 224 TB of raw storage capacity under one controller set.
In addition, the Falcon IV line comes standard with an 8Gb FC host interface option, allowing for connectivity to higher-end SAN solutions and throughput-intensive direct-attached implementations. This is fully backwards-compatible with any industry-standard 4Gb FC and 2Gb FC host bus adapters and switches. SAS and SCSI host options are also available.
"As the capacity requirements of applications such as archiving and disk-to-disk backup continue to grow exponentially, the release and qualification of the 2TB SATA-II drive in the new Falcon IV series comes at the perfect time," stated Tad Gambiza, Vice President of Engineering at RAID. "After a great deal of anticipation this year, we are excited to provide a high performing solution with 2TB drives that meet RAID Inc.’s rigorous testing and quality standards."
