Subsidiary of 3Com, H3C From China Selects OEM Chelsio for 10GbE
To be implemented on network IP storage systems
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 11, 2009 at 3:50 pmChelsio Communications, Inc. announced that H3C Technologies Co. Ltd. (H3C), a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3Com Corporation, is using Chelsio’s high performance Terminator 3 (T3) 10GbE Unified Wire technology for the high speed interconnect for the H3C Neocean IX3000 series of medium and high end network storage systems.
The IX3000 series are IP storage systems that deliver high performance, high quality and high intelligence. The series consists of two models, the IX3040 and the IX3080. H3C selected Chelsio over Intel primarily because of the capability of the T3 to perform high performance TCP/IP Offload. The offload functionality delivered the higher performance required for the storage applications run on these systems while increasing the host CPU efficiency.
The T3 ASIC from Chelsio is a scalable, high-performance 10Gb Ethernet unified wire engine, enabling simultaneous support of iSCSI, RDMA and TCP/IP sockets applications. T3 is a third generation design, which is robust and field-proven with wide deployment in server, storage and clustering interconnect applications.
"Chelsio’s T3 ASIC provides the high interconnect performance required by our customers and was clearly an excellent option for our Neocean IX3000 product family," said Deng Xing, IX3000 Product Manager of H3C.
"We are very pleased to have been selected by H3C. As an industry leading system vendor for medium and large-scale enterprises, H3C is the ideal OEM partner for our Unified Wire solutions," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio. "Our Unified Wire adapters are leading the convergence of server, storage and networking over 10Gb Ethernet connectivity."
