BakBone Company ColdSpark Expands Its Compliance Catalyst Solution

To migrate between different e-mail archiving solutions and vendors

ColdSpark, a BakBone Software company in enterprise messaging infrastructure, has expanded its Compliance Catalyst solution to enable customers to easily migrate between different e-mail archiving solutions and vendors. The new version of the Compliance Catalyst solution also provides organizations with a centralized point of control from which all e-mail archiving policies can be created, managed and monitored.

E-mail archiving remains a central piece of any enterprise’s compliance strategy. However, the designs and operations of these systems can make it difficult for organizations to change or migrate to new solutions that might better align with their evolving compliance requirements. Organizations often have these challenges as part of an active mergers and acquisitions growth strategy or when new regulations or legal requirements change what is mandatory from their e-mail archiving solution. ColdSpark’s Compliance Catalyst allows organizations to change e-mail archiving solutions or run multiple e-mail archiving solutions while reducing their overall compliance exposure.

The Compliance Catalyst solution provides a single pane of glass from which all e-mail archiving policies can be created, managed and monitored. Compliance Catalyst is not an e-mail archiving solution, but rather an enhancement that expands the capabilities of existing e-mail archiving solutions. E-mail archiving policies can be created and implemented based upon numerous methodologies, including line of business, user profiles and regulatory profiles. This allows the Compliance Catalyst to route e-mail based upon these policies to different e-mail archiving solutions or to multiple e-mail archiving solutions.

Compliance Catalyst also allows users to integrate both inbound and outbound e-mail communications from non-host based e-mail systems, such as CRM and marketing applications. These applications are often configured outside of host e-mail systems, such as Microsoft Exchange, because of their performance or technical requirements. This makes critical e-mail sent and received by these applications invisible to e-mail archiving solutions that depend on host e-mail system interfaces, such as MAPI, for archiving. Compliance Catalyst can capture e-mail from these applications and place them into the existing archive along side the host based e-mail already being archived and manage it as part of an overall archiving and compliance strategy.

As the scope of messaging archiving expands, enterprises are looking for a sophisticated, rules-driven archive routing solution to future-proof their most critical assets,” said Scott Brown, senior vice president and general manager, ColdSpark. “By leveraging the Compliance Catalyst, large enterprises can eliminate this potential legal risk without disrupting their existing archiving solutions and distribute their archive across multiple vendors or products.

Highlights of Compliance Catalyst

  • Captures and archives all e-mail sent directly from and to applications, such as CRM or customer marketing solutions, ensuring governance and compliance objectives are met.
  • Centralizes the creation, management and monitoring of all e-mail related policies.
  • Strengthens e-mail litigation support by extending search and policy criteria with customized fields, such as line of business, user profiles and other business variables.
  • Manages disparate or multiple e-mail archiving platforms from a single location, making it easy to change or migrate between different e-mail archiving solutions.
  • ColdSpark’s SMTP archiving approach eliminates the dependency on host based e-mail interfaces, such as MAPI, allowing users to future-proof their e-mail archiving environments today.
  • Compliance Catalyst’s agnostic design allows it to integrate transparently with existing e-mail archiving solutions, extending an organization’s legacy systems investment.
