For broadcasters and video professionals

Cache-A Corporation, supplier of small form factor archive appliances for the digital film, broadcast and professional video industries, will be making its European debut at this year’s International Broadcasters Convention (IBC), RAI Centre, Amsterdam, September 11-15, in the booth of Global Distribution. Cache-A will be demonstrating its first two products – Prime-Cache and Pro-Cache. The easiest-to-use network-attached archive appliances available today, both products enable creative professionals to create ‘source masters’ in acquisition workflows when using the new memory card or disk-based cameras. They also provide long-term archival storage with easy access at every stage of production.

"We look forward to showcasing our new line of archive appliances to the European market, which has long been an innovator in digital workflows and HDTV," said Phil Ritti, President and CEO of Cache-A. "Customer acceptance has already been strong, underscoring our commitment to offer today’s creative professionals innovative products that make the archiving of video truly economical, reliable and future-proof."

Both Cache-A’s Prime-Cache and rack-mountable Pro-Cache solutions write data on low-cost, secure, portable, interchangeable and industry-standard LTO-4 tape cartridges using the standard TAR format. The cost per GB is approximately 0.04 euro, and the archive life is 30 years. A single Prime-Cache or Pro-Cache solution can manage a 200TB archive with media for less than 15,000 euros.

Operating system-independent, both Prime-Cache and Pro-Cache can be deployed into Windows, MacOS and Unix environments to provide direct access to archived data from any platform with simultaneous multi-user access and volume sharing. They plug into a standard Ethernet network and just work, providing high-capacity (800GB/LTO-4 cartridge) and high-speed (greater than 50MB/s) archiving.
