MRV Receives Brocade Data Center Ready Status

For LambdaDriver 8Gb FC module

MRV Communications, Inc. announced that its LambdaDriver 8 Gbps Fibre Channel dual transponder module has been verified by Brocade as interoperable with Brocade-based storage area network (SAN) infrastructure, according to the testing requirements of the Brocade Data Center Ready program, an end-to-end interoperability initiative for SANs.

The Brocade Data Center Ready program offers companies like MRV a complete certification of their products in Brocade SAN fabric environments. Certification includes comprehensive and rigorous testing of the MRV LambdaDriver for compatibility with Brocade switches and directors in multi-vendor SAN environments. MRV is a leading networking company with a full line of packet-optical transport (POTS), carrier Ethernet, 40G networking and out-of-band networking products.

The LambdaDriver 8Gbps Fibre Channel module, announced in March 2009, is a member of MRV’s series of SAN modules for this platform and offers customers unrepeated distances of up to 80 km. This module uses unique 8Gbps SFF modules (XFP and SFP) and can transport two streams of 8G Fibre Channel in one chassis slot, thus providing space and cost savings. MRV’s LambdaDriver WDM platforms provide flexible CWDM and DWDM solutions, enabling enterprises to build campus-wide backbone networks and service providers to create new revenue opportunities due to more efficient use of their existing fiber infrastructure.

We designed the LambdaDriver SAN card for metro and enterprise applications, where interoperability is crucial – that’s why we’re excited to work with Brocade to ensure seamless and high-bandwidth networks for our joint customers,” said Noam Lotan, CEO of MRV Communications. “This certification is another key milestone toward our goal of ensuring that all MRV WDM systems for SAN applications are Brocade certified.

We are pleased that MRV has successfully completed the Brocade Data Center Ready testing,” said Ben Taft, Senior Director of Strategic Alliances at Brocade. “Storage area networks are being deployed worldwide at a rapid rate as a scalable, high-performance networking foundation for storage environments. The Brocade Data Center Ready program is an example of our continued commitment to delivering end-to-end interoperability to SAN customers.”

About the MRV’s LambdaDriver Platforms
MRV’s LambdaDriver WDM platforms provide flexible CWDM and DWDM solutions, enabling enterprises to build campus-wide backbone networks and service providers to create new revenue opportunities and better leverage their existing fiber infrastructure. Three different active chassis (LD400, LD800 and LD1600) and 2 passive chassis (LPD100 and LDP300) with interchangeable modules provide a solution for any network size and service density. Transparent transport allows support for all high-speed LAN, WAN or SAN services. Sub-rate TDM technology built into the platform allows even more efficient use of the available fiber by aggregating low rate protocols over one wavelength. The LambdaDriver platforms support both CWDM and DWDM technologies, thus enabling a cost efficient initial investment in infrastructure with CWDM and a smooth upgrade path towards full capacity DWDM networks.
