Services will be offered in accordance with the Data Storage Services Agreement with Best Buy Europe Distributions Limited (BBE). The initial launch in the U.K. will be at BBE’s partner, The Carphone Warehouse Limited (CPW), which currently operates within nine countries in Europe.
Under the terms of the agreement Spare Backup will provide branded storage services to Geek Squad customers as an inclusive service through a number of Geek Squad support products. Spare Backup will receive an annual payment from CPW when a registered user exceeds 1GB of its online storage. Customers who have not purchased a Geek Squad support product are prompted to increase their storage capacity if they pass their 1GB limit and are provided with the option for a monthly or annual fee. Spare Backup and CPW have agreed to share any revenue derived from the fee based usage agreement on a confidential but mutually beneficial basis.
Spare Backup will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the data and for the administration and operation of the Backup Website and service delivery. Spare Backup will ensure that the Backup Website is available on a 24/7 basis except for scheduled maintenance or in the event of an emergency.
