AIC With 4U 24-Bay SAS/SATA Storage Chassis
With lower power consumption
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 18, 2009 at 3:41 pmAdvanced Industrial Computer, Inc. (AIC), provider of OEM/ODM server and storage solutions, announced its G-Series 4U 24-bay SAS/SATA storage server chassis (Model Number: RSC-4EG2-0). The environmentally friendly solution features high-efficiency power supply, SPGC pre-plated steel with minimal paint, and lockable drive carriers design, providing users with a cost-effective yet reliable solution ideally suited for a broad range of applications.
Similar to 3U 16-bay form factor launched last year, the 4U 24-bay storage server chassis offers a high-efficiency, redundant power supply that reduces power consumption significantly, making it not only cost-effective but environmentally conscious as well. With more than 87% efficiency in power consumption, the G-Series provides users cost savings of over $1405 per year per system, compared to 70% efficiency power. As a result, each 42U of rack in a data center can save over $14,000 of cost in power consumption every year.
In addition to the innovative green design, this SAS server chassis also offers improved system quality and performance with larger, hot-swappable, lower RPM cooling fans, resulting in better cooling, reduced system vibration and acoustic noise. RSC-4EG2-0 also comes with non-expander-based and expander-based version, supporting SGPIO or SCSI Enclosure Services Gen-2 (SES2) enclosure management protocol, allowing users to manage basic or advanced server system conditions, such as disk drive condition, fan speed, temperature and power monitoring.
AIC G-Series SAS/SATA chassis is an ideal choice for applications requiring environmental friendly systems with high efficiency power supplies. Users can choose to have hot-swappable rear OS drive option for easy access. With hard-tool production, the G-Series lowers costs and increases manufacturing efficiency. Future enhancements for the G-Series will include a wide variety of configurations and storage capacities to meet the demand of different applications.
"Increasing data storage energy efficiency is a top priority for all IT departments, and Adaptec and AIC are addressing this by delivering cost-effective green IT solutions," said Scott Cleland, director of marketing, Adaptec. "Adaptec Series 5 and Series 2 RAID controllers with Intelligent Power Management can reduce storage power consumption by up to 70 percent, and when used with the AIC G-Series SAS/SATA chassis, the combined energy cost savings offers impressive ROI to customers ranging from small businesses to global data centers."
“Our newest G-Series chassis offers manufacturers a cost-effective, environmentally conscious storage chassis solution,” said Gene Lee, the Corporate Vice President of AIC. “With the high-efficiency power supply and eco-friendly design, the G-Series is not only good for the environment, but good for our customer’s production costs as well.”
