ADVA Optical Networking FSP 3000 Deployed by P&TLuxembourg
To offer next-generation business storage services
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 27, 2009 at 3:45 pmADVA Optical Networking announced that P&TLuxembourg, a fixed and mobile telephone operator in Luxembourg, has deployed the ADVA FSP 3000 to offer competitive storage services to enterprise customers.
Enterprises have rigorous requirements for dedicated connections, especially for those based on Wavelength Division Multiplexing technology and needed to link remote data centers. With its huge installed base and experience with the FSP 2000, P&TLuxembourg sought a universal platform that enables the same level of functionality, including high power efficiency. P&TLuxembourg also sought new state-of-the-art features that can drive deployments over longer distances using Raman amplification, support transmission speeds up to 40Gbit/s, enable network automation via ROADMs (Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexers) and offer improved security via sophisticated and powerful encryption technology. Important for P&TLuxembourg was also that new equipment be qualified with solutions from all major storage vendors.
“The increasing growth in data-intensive, high-speed networking applications, particularly in storage environments, drives the demand for Ethernet and Fibre Channel solutions at higher bitrates and longer distances,” said Carlo Richartz, head of backbone deployment at P&TLuxembourg. “ADVA Optical Networking understands this demand and with the FSP 3000 has developed an industry-leading solution that enables us to quickly respond to the demands of our customers.”
The FSP 3000, with its unique set of low-latency cards covering a large range of protocols, is now the main building block of the successful high-speed enterprise connectivity business services delivered by P&TLuxembourg. Fully managed from its Network Operations Center and tightly integrated into P&TLuxembourg’s data center offering, the FSP 3000-based solution has already drawn numerous customers from sectors like finance, transportation and public institutions.
“With the successful deployment of the ADVA FSP 150 in early 2008 for intelligent Ethernet services, the FSP 3000 constitutes another key element of our next-generation enterprise service offering. Our customers value the speed, stability and high availability of this WDM solution,” explained Frank Mathieu, head of enterprise solutions at P&TLuxembourg. “It was also critical for our decision-making process that ADVA Optical Networking’s FSP 3000 holds all key vendor qualifications in the areas of open systems, including 1-, 2-, 4-, 8- and 10Gbit/s Fibre Channel and mainframe applications, including ESCON, FICON and InfiniBand.”
“P&TLuxembourg is always at the forefront of innovation, continually looking for advanced and competitive network solutions that ensure the highest customer satisfaction,” commented Fabrice Jean, vice president of sales western Europe and Latin America for ADVA Optical Networking. “By deploying the ADVA FSP 3000, P&TLuxembourg benefits from state-of-the-art optical features, providing a powerful and universal solution that is easy to manage and reduces operational expenses.”
