This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 17, 2009 at 3:47 pmRocky Mountain RAM LLC, provider of data security and policy management solutions for full disk encryption, mobile data encryption, and removable storage devices announced the suite of flash drives featuring McAfee Anti-Virus technology has been approved by the Department of Defense DARTT team and now on the DoD/GSA SmartBUY Contract (#FA8771-07-A-0302) and available on GSA Schedule. The DoD Data-at-Rest Tiger Team (DARTT) was developed in 2006 to address technical requirements and security policies and awards blanket purchase agreement (BPA) contracts.
Rocky Mountain RAM removable storage products feature drive installed device management and encryption with on-drive McAfee Anti-Virus technology. The portable device protection prevents malware from attaching itself to the portable drive and infecting the internal enterprise host. An Administrator control application allows administrators to set policies regarding the use of removable devices, track devices, regulate network usage, and dynamically revoke access to a lost or stolen drive.
"Rocky Mountain RAM, with our technology development partners, was quick to abide with the new requirements the DARTT issued in December 2008. Our co-developed solutions lead the charge in bringing market approved products that feature McAfee anti-virus technology on flash drives," stated Lisa Schaeffer, CEO of Rocky Mountain RAM. Rocky Mountain RAM premier partners include McAfee, ENCRYPTX, IronKey, and North Central Sight Services; a National Industries for the Blind Associated Agency. Flash Drives featured are from leading industry manufacturers: McAfee’s Zero Footprint Drive, McAfee/SanDisk AV Drive, IronKey with AV, and the UltraLockAV and MegaLockAV by Rocky Mt Ram and SKILCRAFT.
"We are pleased Rocky Mountain RAM chose the McAfee AV technology for its suite of flash drives aimed at securing customers in the government sector," said David Scholtz, senior vice president of Strategic Alliance and OEM Sales at McAfee. "With today’s increasingly mobile work force and the speedy proliferation of new threats, it’s just as vital for organizations to protect their portable devices from malware as it is to secure their perimeter."
Rocky Mountain RAM’s flash drives are USA-made and McAfee enabled making them Trade Agreement Act (TAA) compliant and consistent with new and upcoming DOD policies that enhance the protection of networks from malicious attacks originating from removable storage media. Rocky Mountain RAM will release FIPS 140-3 certified, USA-made flash drives featuring McAfee Anti-Virus technology Fall of 2009.
Schaeffer concluded: "Rocky Mountain RAM offers buyers a one-stop source for BPA-approved removable storage options with multiple price points. We intend to address not only the security needs, but also the budget needs of the customer with choices. We offer government buyers the most robust and cost effective products for removable device security and control."
