Panasas Expands Customer Base 25% in 1Q09
Now supporting 500,000 servers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 9, 2009 at 3:56 pmPanasas, Inc. announced that the company grew revenues and expanded its customer base by 25 percent in the first quarter of 2009, as compared to the same period in 2008. Panasas attributes its growth to continuous product innovation that allows its customer base to significantly accelerate their applications’ throughput, time-to-market, and ‘time-to-answer’ for complex products and simulations. Companies worldwide are leveraging Panasas solutions to more efficiently run complex applications that support faster and more cost-effective innovation in energy exploration, financial and portfolio analysis, climate modeling, manufacturing design, computational fluid dynamics and physics, digital animation, and genetic research.
In the first quarter of 2009, new customers in aerospace, energy exploration, financial and portfolio analysis, climate modeling, government, manufacturing design, and genetic research joined corporate and agency leaders that are using Panasas ActiveStor storage to deliver unprecedented breakthroughs in more than 33 countries across six continents.
“Today, we achieved 30GB/sec bandwidth performance in a production environment with the Panasas ActiveStor Parallel Clustered Storage,” said James Nunez, high-performance systems team leader, Los Alamos National Labs. “The Panasas scalable architecture gives us the flexibility to gain more performance by growing the size of the storage system in the future.”
Panasas supports installations of Panasas ActiveStor ranging from a single server with 20 Terabytes of storage to a single customer with more than 4 Petabytes of Panasas storage handling over 14,000 server nodes and 28,000 processors.
Panasas ActiveStor
Panasas provides the most comprehensive family of parallel storage solutions available today. Every Panasas ActiveStor system is based on the leading PanFS Parallel File System and delivers exceptional performance, scalability and manageability. Leveraging DirectFLOW, a parallel storage access technology, Panasas now supports more than 500,000 servers with cost-effective, data-intensive, and linearly scalable storage solutions. This innovative architecture enables multiple, parallel data paths between computing nodes and Panasas ActiveStor storage, thereby eliminating the inherent performance and capacity bottlenecks of today’s file systems and file servers. Panasas also dramatically lowers the cost of managing data storage by supporting Petabytes of data capacity growth within a single, easily managed namespace and framework.
