Netflix Increases Price on Blu-Ray Disc Rentals

Netflix, Inc. plans on increasing the rental fee on Blu-ray disc rentals by 20% starting as early as April 27.

Netflix said it has experienced a 60% increase in demand over the past six months for Blu-ray formatted disks. About 10% of Netflix customers choose Blu-ray disks over standard DVD rentals. Netflix feels that it can charge more for Blu-ray rentals because these discs sell in stores for up to 30% more than standard DVD rentals. Netflix currently changes $1 more for Blu-ray disc rentals.
