Kirton & McConkie Law Firm Chooses Revinetix D2D2D System

For backup and archiving solution

To make data backup more convenient and reliable, the Salt Lake City-based law firm of Kirton & McConkie has replaced its tape backup system with the Sentio Pro 2-1500 disk-based data protection appliance from Revinetix to automate and manage its data backups.

"Our legacy tape system was very slow and inefficient," said Joel Woodall, Kirton & McConkie network administrator. "We needed a new solution to speed backups and restores of our Exchange database, SQL databases and numerous file shares and directories."

With Sentio Disk2Disk2Disk technology, network backups are fully automated, restores are quick and reliable, and disk-based archive drives are hot swappable, enabling removal and offsite storage. The system is flexible and user friendly, enabling backups to standard SATA hard drives. The Sentio Pro also comes pre-bundled with Revinetix’ RevOS administration software. Supporting all major operating systems in use today, including Windows, MacOS, and Linux, RevOS schedules automated backups down to the desktop level for every client connected to the network — even those connected through a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

When restores are required, the Sentio has proven to significantly outperform the law firm’s legacy tape backup system; restores now are completed in minutes rather than hours.

Affordability was also a key consideration in the firm’s decision. Revinetix sells the Sentio D2D2D backup appliance with a capacity use license, which means there are no site or seat fees. An unlimited number of servers and clients can be backed up without additional fees.

"The Revinetix system is very economical," said Woodall. "The disk-based system is comparable to what you would pay for a tape system, but Sentio has many more features and functions, such as de-duplication and its faster, easier to use."

"We make server backup and archiving of data faster, easier and more reliable so that people can focus on other mission-critical processes for their operation," said Thomas Hogan, Revinetix president and CEO. "We look forward to continuing to help Kirton & McConkie save time on their network backups and providing the confidence that protected data will always be easily and reliably accessible."

For the future, the law firm will be able to scale its system quickly and seamlessly by simply adding data protection appliances to its network.

"Choosing Revinetix has been a great decision," said Woodall. "Since installing our Sentio, we’ve had no problems and I don’t have to worry about our back-ups. In fact, I find myself forgetting about it because it works so well."
