QSGI Chooses Fujitsu Mag EraSURE Data Degausser
To offer degaussing service to its customers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 2, 2009 at 3:22 pmFujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a leading supplier of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced that QSGI, Inc. is using the Fujitsu Mag EraSURE degaussing solution as part of its industry-leading suite of information technology security services.
QSGI is a leading provider of a full suite of information technology services to help corporations better manage IT assets, data center maintenance expenses and ensure best practices for data security and regulatory compliance. The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE degausser permanently erases all magnetically recorded data on hard disk drives (HDDs) and other storage devices, enabling QSGI to degauss large quantities of HDDs and other back-up tapes while on-site at customers’ facilities. It helps customers to comply with HIPAA, SOX, PCI DSS and other regulations.
"Data disposal is a valuable component to QSGI’s comprehensive IT security services because many organizations do not have policies in place for the proper destruction of information and simply store thousands of old drives. By incorporating the Fujitsu Mag EraSURE degausser into our data eradication services, we can guarantee our customers’ sensitive data is completely erased and cannot be recovered by hackers or otherwise exploited," said Chris Schoeller, vice president of sales, data security and compliance with QSGI. "We have always been committed to offering our customers the highest quality, most effective technologies available, and the Fujitsu Mag EraSURE is an ideal solution because of its powerful rare-earth magnets, portability, and its ability to degauss large quantities and varieties of devices, while at the customer’s site. When clients require their drives be degaussed, or if drives fall below a resale triage level, we rely on the Mag EraSURE to securely eradicate the drives. We are confident the data is non-recoverable."
The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE utilizes patented rare-earth magnet technology to permanently degauss magnetically recorded information on hard disk drives, tapes and other storage media. Mag EraSURE disposes of information embedded several layers down that might not have been deleted using conventional methods such as reformatting. QSGI services customers across a wide variety of industries—including banking and financial services, government, retail, manufacturing and healthcare—and the Fujitsu Mag EraSURE degausser facilitates reliable disposal of sensitive information.
"Securely disposing of data is a critical aspect of any organization’s security policy." said Joel Hagberg, vice president, marketing and business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "By offering on-site data removal service, QSGI is helping its customers ensure that valuable corporate, employee or customer information is not exposed for malicious purposes. Fujitsu continues to support service providers like QSGI by offering Mag EraSURE degausser, the most robust secure data disposal solution available today."
QSGI is currently deploying Fujitsu Mag EraSURE P2 series as a key solution for its customers. The portability of the P2 series allows QSGI to bring the degausser to customers’ sites to perform the data removal service. It is a cost-effective and convenient service for customers who do not have degaussers at their facilities. QSGI recommends degaussing the drives with Mag EraSURE to ensure that data is completely removed and cannot be recovered.
Security Engineered Machinery (SEM), distributor of Fujitsu Mag EraSURE solutions, worked with QSGI to identify Mag EraSURE as the ideal degaussing technology to meet its customers’ needs.
"When QSGI inquired about data degaussing tools, we immediately recognized the synergies between the Fujitsu Mag EraSURE’s industry-leading capabilities and QSGI’s commitment to offering its customers the best technologies available as part of its high-quality services portfolio," said Peter Dempsey, president of SEM. "While most IT security managers understand the importance of proper data disposal, many are unsure about the most effective approach and simply have no policies in place. The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE addresses this challenge by completely erasing magnetically recorded information, and QSGI is able to offer its customers the assurance that all information is terminated on its HDDs, back-up tapes and other magnetically recorded storage devices."
