For its FibreCAT CX4 storage devices
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 17, 2009 at 3:42 pmWith SSD now!, Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers companies an easy entry into flash-memory technology in the professional storage environment. Now users can take advantage of the latest, highly reliable SSD (Solid State Drive) technology for FibreCAT CX4 storage systems at an attractive price. In addition, the package includes several white papers on a variety of application scenarios. The offer is effective starting immediately and is available from Fujitsu Siemens Computers directly or any of its certified channel partners, priced from €4,400. Professional consulting, implementation and maintenance services are also available.
“We are convinced that SSDs are already a wise addition to the offer of storage tiers in the professional storage environment today,” said Dr. Helmut Beck, Vice President Storage at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “With SSD now!, we want to make it easier for our customers to begin using this technology, which is why we support them with fully matured products as well as with our professional services while they switch over to this new medium.”
Thanks to their high rate of data throughput, SSDs are an excellent choice, particularly for business-critical applications with high performance requirements, such as transaction data processing and databases. Another advantage is that SSDs consume much less energy than hard disks because they operate without any mechanical components. The devices also sport a smaller footprint. In a cost comparison per I/O operation, SSDs are also significantly less expensive than hard disks.
