Transcend Revenue Increased 4.5% From December 2008 to January 2009

As for the company’s monthly product shipment breakdown, flash memory products contributed to 58.69% of sales, while DRAM modules accounted for 25.38%. New product lines including digital music players, portable hard drives and digital photo frames amounted to 15.93% of the company’s total sales revenue.
In addition, Transcend’s combined total product shipment reached a total of 7.56 million pieces in January. This marks an increase of 14.8% compared to shipment figures from January 2008. The major contributors to this total were flash-based products, of which 6.07 million units were shipped, amounting to a year-to-year growth of 17.55%. Shipments of DRAM-based products totaled 1.14 million pieces, and new product lines reached 345,000 pieces, with a year-to-year growth of 64.35%. Amid these products, the monthly shipment of Solid State Drives achieved a record-high 30,000 units in January. In terms of average memory capacity of devices sold in January, Transcend’s average flash memory card capacity was 2.97GB, while its average flash drive was 4.72GB, and the average capacity of DRAM modules sold was 1.59GB.
Looking into 2009, Transcend expects substantial shipment and sales revenue increases for both DRAM and NAND flash-based products. In the meantime, Transcend will continue to develop innovative new products to provide an attractive and varied product selection for design-conscious consumers. Furthermore, Transcend will continue to strengthen its brand identity and increase global market share throughout the year by increasing its presence at shows and events, opening more Transcend Stores in strategic markets, and further improving the quality of its after-sales service.
