Fulcrum Selected 3PAR as Its Primary Storage Vendor
Acquiring InServ T400 storage servers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 11, 2009 at 3:38 pmAs part of a major technology upgrade in its information processing capabilities, Fulcrum, a leading provider of database marketing solutions, has selected 3PAR as its primary storage server vendor. It is acquiring 3PAR’s InServ T400 Storage Servers, next-gen arrays which contain advanced features such as thin provisioning, virtual domains hypervisor software, and dynamic optimization DLM software. Each T400 array is capable of managing up to 300 terabytes of data.
This move complements a number of Fulcrum’s recent technology upgrades, including modernizing databases with Oracle’s Real-time Application Clustering technology and virtualizing all production servers using VMware.
The new storage was also needed to support the opening of Fulcrum’s newest data center, scheduled for the first quarter of 2009. Because of the high volume of data under management and the need to replicate data over multiple sites, a common storage platform with solid remote replication technology was required.
"Fulcrum’s rapid growth means that the amount of data we manage is growing, sometimes by many terabytes per month. We were looking not only for large capacity, but for hardware that allowed us to configure storage on the fly to meet client needs quickly. 3PAR’s thin provisioning capabilities delivered these capabilities and more," said Richard Vermillion, Fulcrum’s Chief Technology Officer.
