This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 9, 2009 at 3:43 pmLogitech International announced that Werner Heid, age 49, has joined the company as a senior vice president, responsible for worldwide sales and regional marketing. Mr. Heid assumes the executive management responsibility for Logitech’s retail sales in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, as well as for worldwide sales to OEM customers. He reports directly to Gerald P. Quindlen, Logitech president and chief executive officer.
Mr. Heid brings to Logitech a wealth of experience as a senior executive in high-technology companies. Mr. Heid served for five years as the president and chief executive officer of Iomega Corporation, the provider of consumer and small-business data-storage solutions. Before joining Iomega, Mr. Heid was the executive vice president of global sales and marketing for InFocus Corporation, a leading supplier of multimedia projection systems for consumers and business. He joined the company when InFocus acquired Proxima Corporation, where Mr. Heid served as president. Prior to taking on his leadership role at Proxima, Mr. Heid was with Hewlett-Packard Corporation for twelve years, in both Europe and the United States. At H-P, he led the business definition and the successful global market launch of the company’s All-In-One and color copier product businesses.
“I am delighted to have Werner Heid join Logitech to lead our global go-to-market organization,” said Jerry Quindlen. “Werner brings an outstanding background to Logitech and a proven track record for achieving growth, focusing on customers and building market share in a variety of businesses, cultures and geographies. He has a broad understanding of the consumer electronics business and we believe will offer a tremendous contribution to our leadership team.”

We remember quite well Werner Heid who took over as CEO at Iomega in 2001 until 2006. He was ejected from Iomega mainly because he was not able to transform REV into Zip's success and was replaced in February 2006 by interim CEO Stephen David and then rapidly by Jonathan Huberman, who became president of Iomega and the Consumer and Small Business Products Division of EMC, following the acquisition of Iomega by EMC last year for $213 million.
In our opinion more a technical than a marketing guy, Heid left Iomega with $950,000 in severance and apparently disappears from the IT industry before this comeback with Logitech. More recently he was executive advisor to American Capital Strategies at HGI Corporation.
