SNIA Adds LSI to Certified Storage Network Expert Program

For the certification of StoreAge Storage Virtualization Manager software

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) added LSI Corporation as the latest participating vendor in the SNIA Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP). Moving forward, storage network professionals who hold the LSI SVM (Storage Virtualization Manager) Certified Professional – SVM5 Implementation Engineer – credential can apply this credential toward the SNIA Certified Storage Network Expert (SCSN-E) certification as part of SNIA’s SNCP.

The alignment of the LSI SVM Certified Professional credential with the SNIA’s expert level certification provides further opportunity for certified individuals to achieve acknowledgment for their skills. The certification also reflects the growing demand for networking professionals with the ability to design, install and support today’s multi-vendor storage network environments.

By partnering with SNIA in certification, LSI is able to ensure the pre-requisite skills of candidates coming into our program,” said Haley Heter, certification manager, LSI. “In addition, our alignment with the SNIA Certified Storage Network Expert (SCSN-E) track raises the visibility of our program to new candidates and expands the opportunities of LSI Certified Professionals to enhance their skills.”

The SVM5 Implementation Engineer certification positions individuals as the preferred expert on installation, setup, configuration and basic trouble shooting for the implementation of the LSI StoreAge SVM5 solution into SAN environments. The StoreAge SVM software suite is an advanced services platform that enables centralized storage management and multi-level data protection for distributed, heterogeneous storage environments.

LSI joins an esteemed group of participating vendors in the SNIA certification program who consider their exams SNIA-compliant, and will work with the association toward the continued fulfillment of even more SCSN-E certifications.

We are pleased to add LSI Corporation to the list of SNIA partners who recognize or require SNIA certifications,” said Rick Bauer, Technology & Education Director for the SNIA. “The addition of an industry-leading provider of storage and networking technologies such as LSI is another step forward in establishing SNIA as the leader in storage industry standards and vendor-neutral Storage Networking certifications.”

The SNIA Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP) provides a strong foundation of vendor-neutral, systems-level credentials that integrate with and complement individual vendor certifications. The structure of the SNCP has been enhanced to reflect the advancement and growth of storage networking technologies over the past few years, and to provide for expanded offerings in the future. Through evolving and enhancing the SNCP, the SNIA is establishing a uniform standard by which individual knowledge and skill sets can be judged.
