ioSafe Solo 1.5TB External HDD

ioSafe, Inc. introduced the ioSafe Solo, the world’s first 1.5TB external hard drive with integrated ioSafe disaster protection technologies. Optimized to be a low cost external hard drive backup solution and improve the risks associated with data loss, the ioSafe Solo was introduced at last Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The fireproof and waterproof device capabilities were tested and compared versus unprotected hard drives and gathered extensive glowing reviews from attendees. During the demonstration, the pros and cons of disaster proof external hard drives versus non-disaster protected hard drives such as the Seagate FreeAgent or Western Digital My Book were compared.

Starting at $149, the ioSafe Solo has improved and optimized its external hard drive technology to be an exceptional value versus non-protected external hard drives. Previously a supplier of enterprise NAS appliance solutions, the ioSafe’s Solo expands the solution to consumers and businesses everywhere. The Disaster Recovery Service provides up to $1,000 of third-party forensic drive data recovery service should the ioSafe Solo be damaged and the company is unable to directly recover the information.

ioSafe Solo product details
The ioSafe Solo external disk drive is engineered and tested to protect data from fire (up to 1,550 degrees Fahrenheit for one-half hour per ASTM E119) and flood (full immersion in fresh or salt water at depths up to 10 feet for 3 days). These capabilities are made possible by ioSafe’s technology which can be used for both internally developed products and available to third-party manufactures for licensing. The technology optimizes protection of disk drive data to prevent damage from fire, floods and other disasters – while at the same time uniquely resolving heat dissipation issues found in all computer systems.

The ioSafe technology includes:

• ioSafe’s patented FloSafe cooling vent technology provides air-flow cooling to dissipate heat during normal operation. FloSafe technology also has the ability to detect destructive heat levels and automatically close the vents to protect data from extreme heat.
• Data on ioSafe protected products also is protected from extreme heat by ioSafe’s proprietary DataCast endothermic insulation technology. Chemically embedded with water, cooling water vapor is engineered to be released above temperatures of 160 degrees Fahrenheit to protect the data within the enclosure.
• The patented HydroSafe technology is a waterproof vapor barrier designed to protect data loss from fresh or salt-water damage, including full immersion. Simultaneously, HydroSafe technology allows the cooling FloSafe air flow heat dissipation required by all computer hardware during normal operation.
