"E-mail and databases are central components of daily business operations," said Jeff Drescher, vice president of Marketing, BakBone. "BakBone gives Exchange Server and SQL Server users very powerful, yet simple-to-use tools that improve recoverability and are a must for any organization that cannot be without these fundamental applications for any length of time, even minutes or seconds. BakBone offers a comprehensive range of Microsoft application data protection solutions. Customers with very aggressive RTO and RPO requirements can take full advantage of 30-second application recovery with BakBone’s latest release of NetVault: Real-Time Data Protector. NetVault: Backup APMs for Exchange Server and for SQL Server provide users with the utmost confidence that their mission critical environments are being protected."
NetVault: Real-Time Data Protector
NetVault: Real-Time Data Protector significantly reduces downtime and its potential impact on a company’s ability to service its customers and generate revenue. Exchange, SQL Server and individual files can quickly be recovered to any point in time, providing near-zero data loss. The solution provides granular recovery of individual mailboxes or mailbox items without having to perform additional brick-level backups that extend a backup window. These capabilities reduce storage costs and vastly minimize the loss of business-critical application data. Near-instantaneous application recovery happens in as fast as 30 seconds.
NetVault: Real-Time Data Protector 2.0 adds:
- Continuous protection for SQL Server with any-point-in-time (APIT) recovery
- Longer retention of continuous history and long-term snapshot history
- Simplified management for greater ease of use
"Anyone who has witnessed the growing corporate reliance on e-mail should not be surprised at the impact it now has in day-to-day operations. An individual’s ability to send and receive e-mails, predominantly via Microsoft Exchange, now tends to outweigh more traditional modes of business communication, and is a critical foundation of tactical business operations," said Eric Burgener, senior analyst, Taneja Group. "BakBone’s portfolio of data protection solutions for Microsoft applications can help organizations meet protection and recovery requirements for their applications, e-mails and databases in a simple and cost-effective manner."
NetVault: Backup APM for SQL Server
NetVault: Backup APM for SQL Server offers reliable and flexible data protection through online Virtual Device Interface (VDI) or Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) backup methods. A point-and-click GUI eliminates scripting and provides recovery of complete and partial databases or individual datafiles. NetVault: Backup APM for SQL Server also features full and differential database and file backups and partial and differential-partial database backups.
NetVault: Backup APM for SQL Server 5.5 includes the following features, all in the context of full SQL Server 2008, Windows 2008 and Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) support:
- Filestream support to help administrators backup SQL Server data stored outside of SQL Server databases
- Datafile rename to increase operational flexibility
- Copy-only backups to help create test or standby environments
NetVault: Backup APM for Exchange Server
With NetVault: Backup APM for Exchange Server, users do not need to learn Exchange internals; they simply select what needs to be backed up or restored from a user interface. NetVault: Backup’s APM for Exchange Server automatically performs the action. Support for online backups via Exchange Server’s Extensible Storage Engine (ESE) and Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) provides users the flexibility to select their preferred backup method and create flexible backup policies that account for multiple recovery scenarios. The APM offers granular control to restore complete information stores, individual storage groups, or individual databases.
NetVault: Backup APM for Exchange 4.0 offers the following features, all with full VSS and Windows 2008 support:
- Protection for other high availability options such as Local Continuous
- Replication (LCR), Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR) and Single Copy Cluster (SCC) for enhanced availability
- Standby continuous replication support to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity by enabling the separation of high availability and site resilience
- Parallel backup/restore streams to increase backup and recovery speed
