1.5TB HDD With Only Three Platters by Samsung

Strangely, low-cost Samsung F2 Series EcoGreen SATA HDDs at 500GB per 3.5-inch disk were not officially released but you can find their complete specs on PDF on the company’s Web site.

We have here the first HDD with 1.5TB on only three platters (Seagate offers the same capacity on four disks),  but at 5,400rpm only (vs. 7,200rpm for Seagate). The Samsung HD502HI model at 500GB is already sold by distributors at prices starting at €50.
