This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 24, 2008 at 3:24 pmNEI announced the general availability of the new SN 2500 R2 SAN Storage Subsystem, providing customers with a best-in-class offering that is unmatched for its flexibility, capacity and scalability. The SN 2500 R2 is a carrier grade, highly reliable, NEBS Level 3 certified rack SAN storage subsystem targeted at telecom OEMs and ISVs.
Customers benefit from next-generation technology with the ability to choose between fiber channel, SAS or iSCSI interfaces. The SN 2500 R2 also offers a choice between AC or DC power. Add the ability to choose between SAS, SATA hard drives or a combination of the two, this customizable platform offers the freedom to select the system that best meets storage needs and customer data lifecycle requirements all in the same form factor.
The SN 2500 R2 provides external SAN storage optimized to deliver up to 48 TB capacity with support for a variety of RAID levels. The 2U rack mount storage platform features maximum storage density per rack with 12 drive bays per system and the ability to scale up to four chassis or 48 drives for maximum expansion. The modular nature of the platform enables customers to dynamically scale capacity and performance based on market positioning or customer needs.
“The requirements for data storage and access have increased at exponential rates and our response to the foreseeable market demand was to launch a product that offered the flexibility and modularity to enable faster access with the SN 2500 R2,” said Jeff Hudgins, vice president of marketing, NEI. “With our comprehensive lifecycle management approach in mind, this system was tested and validated to provide carrier grade storage and to work in conjunction with our ATCA and NEBS product lines to deliver a complete solution that accelerates time to market and increases business efficiencies.”
The SN 2500 R2 provides an excellent integration path for supplemental data storage and disaster recovery for mission-critical security, storage, networking and communications applications such as file sharing, distributed databases and web video. This long life system is fully validated with ATCA blades and NEBS servers and is NEBS Level 3 and ETSI certified.
