TerraMaster Introduces U4-500 Integrated Backup Server 4-Bay 1U Rackmount NAS

TerraMaster Technology Co. Ltd. launches the U4-500 integrated backup server, a 4-bay 1U rackmount NAS designed to deliver data protection, backup capabilities with BBS Backup Suite, and speed performance for SMBs, home offices, and IT environments.

Equipped with an Intel Core i3-1215U and 8GB DDR5, the U4-500 delivers performance. The appliance includes 2x10GbE Ethernet ports providing up to 20Gb bandwidth, achieving sequential write speeds of 2,090MB/s and 4K random RW speeds of 450MB/s with SMB multichannel. Two M.2 NVMe slots enable Hyper Cache acceleration, enhancing disk array efficiency, making the U4-500 for demanding applications like video production, virtualized environments, and database management.

Storage Capacity and Flexible Expansion
The U4-500 supports up to 96TB of raw storage with 4×3.5-inch SATA drive bays (using 24TB HDDs). For additional capacity, it connects to external USB storage via a USB 3.2 10Gb interface, enabling expansion up to 132TB when paired with devices like the TerraMaster D6-320. The appliance supports multiple RAID configurations (Single, RAID-0, 1, 5, 6, 10) and the company’s TRAID/TRAID+ for online capacity expansion and redundancy. Users can configure multiple storage spaces with ext4 or Btrfs file systems to meet diverse business needs.

Compact and Quiet Design
Housed in a 1U rackmount chassis with a depth of just 360mm (14.17 inches) and weighing 3.2kg, the U4-500 is for small offices, server rooms, or wall-mounted cabinets. Its tool-less installation fits most 2-column cabinets, and a high-quality silent fan ensures low noise levels even under full load, enhancing workplace comfort.

Integrated Backup Solution with BBS
The U4-500 is powered by TOS 6 OS and support TerraMaster BBS (Business Backup Suite), a comprehensive backup solution tailored for SMBs. With a one-time payment, BBS eliminates recurring software fees and imposes no limits on backup tasks or storage capacity. It integrates a professional storage management system, advanced backup tools, and a robust hardware platform, offering deep integration and versatile backup services. BBS includes core components such as Duple Backup for off-site DR, Centralized Backup for employee PCs and servers, TerraSync for multi-device synchronization, CloudSync for cloud-based recovery, and Snapshot for ransomware protection. This suite ensures data security across diverse enterprise scenarios with flexible deployment options and advanced security strategies,
including global LTS encryption.

The U4-500 excels in virtualization with Docker Manager and VirtualBox, enabling efficient container and VM management. Its 4K video decoding and compatibility with uPnP/DLNA protocols, alongside TerraMaster’s Multimedia Server or 3rd-party platforms like Plex and Emby, make it a solution for streaming to PCs, smartphones, and TVs. This versatility supports multimedia-intensive industries like film and audio-video production.
