Predatar’s 3rd Generation Cyber Recovery Cleanroom
Supports more storage environments, more cost-effective, quicker and easier to deploy says the UK recovery specialist.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 27, 2025 at 2:02 pmUK-based cyber recovery firm Predatar Ltd., have announced that their 3rd Gen cleanroom will be released before the end of the month, promising to make recovery assurance achievable for more organisations than ever before.
Cyber recovery cleanrooms have been gaining traction as an important technology for operational resilience in the last year. Big storage vendors including IBM, HPE, Dell and Commvault have introduced cleanroom technology to their portfolios, either as products or reference architectures, but despite the importance of the technology, market adoption has been relatively slow.
Predatar has been ahead of the game in this field. Since launching its first Cleanroom solution more than 3 years ago. The company has continued to innovate and provides a recovery assurance product that stands out in the marketplace in 3 important ways.
- Provides pre-emptive recovery testing: Using automation and AI, Predatar continually validates the recoverability of critical backups and snapshots before a crisis hits.
- Predatar goes beyond anomaly detection: Where most alternative solutions identify signs of possible malware using anomaly detection methods, the company goes further – actually restoring suspect workloads, before running a full anti-virus scan to verify the infection, and where necessary, cleaning the workload too.
- Predatar supports multiple backup and storage technologies including Veeam, Cohesity, Rubrik, IBM Storage Protect, IBM FlashSystems, and Pure Storage, so customers can validate different workloads in one Cleanroom with a single Predatar licence.
A cleanroom is an essential component in any recovery assurance solution. With the release of Cleanroom 3, the firm is aiming to lower the barriers to adoption.
Alistair Mackenzie, founder and CEO, Predatar, explains: “Most organisations understand they need to boost data resiliency. Cleanrooms have a big role to play, but until now, the technology has been seen as costly and complicated.“
Predatar’s Cleanroom 3 technology supports more storage environments than the previous version, it’s more cost effective, and it’s quicker and easier to deploy.
Ian Richardson, CTO, Predatar, explains: “We have removed the need for customers to purchase hypervisor licences and third-part EDR software to reduce cost and streamline procurement.” Richardson goes on to explain that one of the biggest changes is a completely new deployment method. He says: “Thanks to the new ISO-based deployment, a Cleanroom can now be created as a VM, or on bare metal. And importantly Cleanroom 3 can be built in just a few hours without the need for highly specialist skills or extensive training.“
Where most cleanrooms require customers to purchase new hardware or acquire new cloud infrastructure, Cleanroom3 has been designed to run on a broad range of commodity hardware, meaning that in many cases customers will have the ability to use technology they already have in their data centre.
Following the completion of a successful Early Access Program, Predatar has announced that Cleanroom 3 will be available from 31st March directly from the company, from Apex Partners, or from any IBM storage reseller.
