QNAP Upgrades 100GbE Switch QSW-M7308R-4X

Adds support for breakout, 40GbE QSFP+ and cloud centralized management, and with PTP and QoS, delivering nanosecond-level low latency and high-resolution AVoIP user experience

QNAP Systems, Inc. has enhanced its 100GbE Lite-L3 managed switch, QSW-M7308R-4X.

The 100GbE QSFP28 ports now has backwards compatibility with 40GbE QSFP+, and supports breakout cables to 4x25GbE SFP28 ports. IT staff can also monitor multiple switches centrally via the AMIZcloud management platform, enabling efficient and flexible network deployment and device management, reducing initial investment and operational maintenance costs for enterprises deploying 100GbE networks. Users can enjoy these features by upgrading the QSW-M7308R-4X to the latest QSS Pro v4.1 software version.

QNAP continues to enhance the advanced software features of our 100GbE switches to meet the high performance and flexibility required for enterprises expanding their 100GbE network infrastructure,” said Ronald Hsu, product manager, QNAP, adding “The QSW-M7308R-4X is one of the few switches that supports 100GbE backward compatibility at an extremely low cost, along with MC-LAG fault tolerance, half-rackmount design, and cloud management capabilities, making it the most cost-optimized choice for small and medium-sized businesses upgrading to 100GbE.”

  • Supports 100GbE Breakout: The 100GbE QSFP28 port can be connected to more servers, switches, or NAS through a 100GbE QSFP28 to 4x25GbE SFP28 breakout cable.

  • Backward Compatibility with 40GbE Speeds: The 100GbE QSFP28 port can connect to servers and switches with the same interface using 40GbE/100GbE DAC/AOC cables or transceivers.

  • Low-latency AVoIP User Experience: Supports IGMP Snooping with PTP (Precision Time Protocol) and QoS priority management, following the stringent time standards of ITU-T G.8273.3 Class A, providing high-precision time synchronization for network devices. This effectively forwards PTP packets and corrects time deviations caused by internal delays, ensuring a time error of less than 100 nanoseconds.

  • Cloud Centralized Management: By using the AMIZcloud Cloud Management Platform, multiple switches at various locations can be centrally monitored, facilitating IT remote troubleshooting and reducing maintenance costs.

  • Real-time Fiber Port Monitoring: Fiber ports come with built-in optical transceivers and Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM), providing real-time monitoring and reporting of parameters related to fiber connections, such as optical power, temperature, voltage, and transceiver status.

  • More Features: QoS offers more granular traffic control (Queue Scheduling) and priority management (Strict Policy) to ensure the timeliness of critical traffic and improve network performance. ACL Mirroring can duplicate traffic that matches specific ACL rules and forward it to designated monitoring or analysis devices.

AMIZcloud supports management for specific switch models only.
