Embedded World 2025: Tuxera Shares Strategies to Manage, Secure, and Access Mission-critical Data
Showcasing Reliance Nitro, Reliance Edge, FlashFX Tera, Tuxera Networking Suite, and Crypto Core solutions
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 10, 2025 at 2:01 pmData reliability and security failures continue to make headlines in nearly every industry, from gaming consoles to entire automotive lines.
To showcase how embedded developers address these challenges, Tuxera, Inc. will bring its expertise in managing, securing, and ensuring reliable access to mission-critical data to Embedded World, March 11-13 (Booth 4-440), March 11-13, in Nuremberg, Germany.
“Data integrity and security are key requirements for industrial, automotive, smart energy, aerospace, and other markets,” states Eva Rio, portfolio manager, Tuxera. “More and more of these industries want to reinvent their businesses and adopt software-defined strategies to differentiate. Now hardware is a commodity, and new system architectures cause challenges when reliability needs to be achieved without compromising long-term performance. Tuxera has a strong portfolio of mission-critical, high-integrity products built to withstand challenges related to flash memory, cybersecurity threats, and industry standards. Our embedded file systems and secure network stacks are foundational for building a software-defined future.”
Technical session gives developers guidance on how to ensure storage media lasts as long as the device
The greatest contributor to device lifetime is how storage is used. Recent innovations in NAND silicon increase storage capacity, but at the cost of write endurance. And when storage media fails, the entire device fails, with potentially costly and embarrassing results.
On March 12, from 4:00-4:30 p.m., Thom Denholm, embedded software engineer, Tuxera, and secretary, SD Association, will present valuable design rules to ensure data reliability for the full life of embedded devices.
Make mission-critical data easy to manage, secure, and accessible on demand with Tuxera products
At Embedded World, Tuxera experts will discuss development challenges, such as the hardware and software impacts of choosing raw flash compared to managed NAND; configuring software to work best with hardware, at design time and in the field; and rates of field returns and potential reasons for unexpected errors. Attendees will discover a full range of high-integrity file systems and flash management software that addresses the most challenging design requirements, including:
- Tuxera Reliance Nitro: Engineered to protect mission-critical data from corruption, Reliance Nitro is a transactional file system that uses a copy-on-write design to ensure data integrity. This solution gives developers full control over data committed to disk, balancing performance and reliability in case of power interruption or ungraceful shutdown.
- Tuxera Reliance Edge: Built for applications where data integrity and reliability are non-negotiable, Reliance Edge file system is especially useful in situations where power loss is a concern. The file system is designed for resource-constrained environments running real-time operating systems, like FreeRTOS, and safety-critical RTOSes, such as INTEGRITY and SAFERTOS. Reliance Edge features deterministic operations to provide full control over data, and its certifiable version for functional safety projects (automotive ISO 26262, expandable to other industries) ships with a complete set of documents and artifacts to simplify compliance requirements.
- Tuxera FlashFX Tera: Resilient, predictable operations for safety-critical systems that use unmanaged NAND and NOR flash configurations benefit from a software flash controller that maximizes the life of the flash memory and ensures operational resilience and longevity of the device. FlashFX Tera integrates with any embedded system running Linux, RTOSes, or bare metal.
- Tuxera Networking Suite: MISRA compliant and operating system and hardware agnostic, Tuxera TCP/IP stack offers a small footprint for constrained environments where typical RAM is 12kB, ROM can be as low as 5kB, and minimal configuration is possible. For long-term compatibility, Tuxera offers both IPv4 and IPv6 in a modular design that supports a wide range of protocols. The company has integrated all known security protocols to help developers build secure embedded products with MACsec and avoid intrusion, man-in-the-middle-attacks, and denial-of-service-attacks. Also, Tuxera networking suite offers the SafeTCP/IP variant for safety-critical applications, which includes all artifacts, validation, and verification details according to ISO 26262 ASIL B standards.
- Tuxera Crypto Core: Developers can encrypt the data on the security components of the TCP/IP stack as well as any embedded target with the company’s CryptoCore, an encryption and security library optimized for embedded systems. CryptoCore meets the requirements for National Security Agency (NSA) Suite B compliance, including AES, ECDSA, ECDH, SHA-256, and SHA-384.
