The 1st challenge this year relates to storage technologies that deliver ultimate per-bit cost efficiency. In this regard, researchers are encouraged to continue exploring media, innovative media applications, and lossless compression technologies for large AI models. Another challenge lies in addressing issues in the AI era, including limited bandwidth between xPUs and storage, low utilization of computing clusters, extended inference latency, and rising data storage costs driven by rapid data growth and increased data value. In this area, researchers are specifically called upon to make breakthroughs in cost-effective center/edge training and inference technologies and new storage forms, as well as new methods of data management and more efficient processing technologies tailored for AI scenarios. Such actions will lead to the creation of data storage systems that offer ultimate performance, high scalability, strong data resilience, sustainability, new data paradigms, and data fabric capabilities, thus bringing AI applications to various industries.
The company has a keen focus on foundational data storage and has increased its investment in cutting-edge research in the field. In addition to establishing the OlympusMons Awards, the firm has cooperated with top research institutes and universities around the world and established joint labs. Since its inception in 2019, the OlympusMons Awards have attracted over 240 scholars from across the globe, and now stand as a leading, highly-regarded accolade in the data storage industry.
