Seagate
Capacity shipments jumped 20% Q/Q to 137.52EB while units rose 5% over the same period to 12.92 million HDDs. Nearline HDD units advanced 18% Q/Q to 6.54 million on a sharp 27% capacity jump to 114.66EB. Average nearline capacity of 17.5TB rose 8% Q/Q while overall average capacity of 10.6TB climbed 15% from 2Q24. Nearline unit share of 42.4% represented a 190-basis point improvement Q/Q while total unit share of 40.3% dipped a slight 30 basis points Q/Q.

Toshiba
3Q24 capacity shipments surged 20% Q/Q to 39.05EB on nearly flat sequential shipments of 5.95 million HDDs. Nearline capacity of 31.83EBs and 2.12 million units jumped 17% and 29%, respectively, while the company’s nearline market share of 17.4% was a solid recovery from 13.2% in 2Q24. Nearline average capacity increased 10% Q/Q to 15.0TB while total average HDD capacity of 6.6TB improved 20%. Sequential total unit share fell 100 basis points to 18.6%.

Western Digital
Total HDD capacity shipments of 163.70EB rose 14% Q/Q while units increased 10% over the same period to 13.20 million HDDs. Nearline capacity of 139.52EB on 7.05 million units both advanced 12% Q/Q. The company’s nearline unit share of 44.9% fell 130 basis points Q/Q but continued to lead the industry. Average nearline capacity of 19.8TB remained flat Q/Q, while total average capacity of 12.4TB lifted 4% from 2Q24.
