UK-based Recovery Assurance Innovator Predatar

Achieves Veeam ready security status.

The UK-based Recovery Assurance innovators Predatar have become one of the 1st technology vendors to achieve Veeam Ready status in the security category, and is the only Veeam Ready solution that alerts Veeam users of confirmed malware that has been ingested into their backups using Veeam’s Incident API.

As the #1 in data resilience, it’s no wonder that technology companies are keen to integrate their software with Veeam. The Veeam Alliance program was established to help Veeam customers find the best of these solutions. Only integrated products that pass an extensive testing and validation program are awarded Veeam Ready status.

Predatar uses AI-powered threat detection, to identify signs of hidden malware that has been ingested into its customers’ storage environments. It then automates recovery tests and malware verification on suspect workloads. Predatar will also run a search to check if viruses have spread.

Predatar CTO Ian Richardson explains: “Instances of malware being replicated to backups is a far bigger problem than you might think. Predatar has found malware in the backups of more than 70% of deployments within 4 weeks of implementing our Recovery Orchestration solution – in most cases that malware had been present for months and had the potential to cause significant harm.

Predatar utilises the Veeam Incident API to alert Veeam users when Malware has been found in a Veeam backup. By raising an alert directly inside Veeam Backup & Replication, users can react quickly and take any follow-up steps that might be required – for example notifying the security team and checking production workloads.

Andreas Neufert, VP product management, alliances, at Veeam, explains: “After seeing Predatar’s unique Recovery Assurance platform in action, we could immediately see how the solution could benefit many Veeam customers in their efforts to become more resilient.

As well as Veeam, Predatar works with other leading storage and backup platforms including Pure Storage, IBM FlashSystems, IBM Storage Protect and more – making the company a great option for enterprise customers with multi-vendor infrastructure.
