Huawei Connect: Huawei Launches New-Gen OceanStor Dorado All-Flash Storage
Bringing mission-critical applications into AI era
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 26, 2024 at 2:01 pmAt Huawei Connect 2024, Huawei launched its new-gen OceanStor Dorado all-flash storage.
This AI-ready storage, offering performance and resilience, is designed to bring mission-critical applications into the AI era.
With the advent of the AI era, large AI models are rapidly integrating into and reshaping the services of various industries, meaning enterprise data infrastructure must fully support the running and expansion of AI applications. In addition, emerging applications have led to data growth, while data risks such as ransomware attacks are becoming more rampant. Therefore, building more efficient and reliable data infrastructure has become an industry consensus.
Yang Chaobin, director of the board and president of ICT products and solutions, Huawei, delivering a keynote
Vs. this backdrop, Chaobin delivered a keynote speech and launched the new-gen OceanStor Dorado all-flash storage to meet enterprises’ storage requirements for mission-critical applications in the AI era.
The storage boasts three key capabilities:
- Performance: The new-gen all-flash storage has undergone a complete overhaul in terms of hardware and software. A data-processing-unit-based (DPU-based) SmartNIC separates data flows from control flows, addressing the processor performance bottleneck. Dedicated hardware function modules are used to offload CPU compute resources and enable value-added features without compromising performance. Furthermore, in-depth hardware-software collaboration unleashes greater performance. The newly upgraded Flashlink intelligent disk-controller-DPU collaboration algorithm enables over 100 million IO/s and 0.03ms latency. The performance of new-gen all-flash storage is tripled when compared with the previous-generation product.
- Resilience: With the SmartMatrix full-mesh architecture, the new-gen OceanStor Dorado tolerates multi-layer faults of controller enclosures, disk enclosures, and bays. It can tolerate the failure of up to seven out of eight controller enclosures without service interruption, with 99.99999% reliability of a single system. Furthermore, the new-gen OceanStor Dorado supports ransomware protection for SAN and NAS across all zones, achieving a ransomware detection rate of up to 99.99%. Meanwhile, intelligent snapshot correlation analysis and intelligent snapshot synthesis technologies ensure 100% data availability after recovery.
- AI-Ready: The new-gen OceanStor Dorado uses the native unified storage architecture to support various applications such as databases, files, and containers, meeting the storage needs of mission-critical applications in the AI era. The Data Management Engine (DME) allows for dialog-based O&M and can proactively detect exceptions through large AI model technologies, improving O&M efficiency fivefold.
