Kalray and Pliops Confirmed Merger
Kalray silently withdrew from FMS exhibitor list.
By Philippe Nicolas | July 26, 2024 at 2:02 pmWe wrote about it right after they announced their intent to combine companies, it was on June 10. The key date for this companies move was July 15 and since that, Kalray cancelled its participation from the coming FMS conference and expo early August in Santa Clara, CA.
A few days before that pivot date, Kalray surprisingly received €15 million non diluting financing.
They probably wished to hide this, having the goal to make a big announcement during that show but they also ignore how StorageNewsletter observers work. To summarize Kalray and Pliops secured their FMS booths many months ago, they announced their plan so obviously having a double presence became irrelevant.
This still is a mysterious deal from Kalray who suffered from a few years and had difficulties even with a recent software solution coming from an external growth. This one also was a surprise and it confirms strange tactic moves. For Pliops, it’s also a surprise as we met a few times the team in Israel and we measured their potential. But as the same time, that segment is tough with various acquisitions and also failures for a few years. Nvidia can’t acquire all of them at the end.
This move from Kalray is probably pushed by some of their advisors experts, well recognized for their positive impacts they had with their previous experiences. This is well illustrated by their reputation and track record. We’ll see how the market will react, StorageNewsletter will be at FMS and will report the event as usual.
