History 2005: SATA Switch Start-Up Candera, Formerly Confluence Networks, Closed Doors
After burning through $59 million
By Jean Jacques Maleval | July 22, 2024 at 2:01 pmSATA switch start-up Candera, formerly Confluence Networks, has closed its doors after burning through $59 million, due to its inability to secure a major OEM.
The Milpitas, CA company is now trying to sell assets.
When you consider that its name comes from the Latin word “candere,” to shine or glow…
We can’t resist the temptation of listing some of the impressive names on the company’s prestigious advisory board, who nevertheless failed to provide a winning answer (everyone can be wrong sometimes):
- Wayne Rickard, chair, SNIA Technical Council, and VP advanced storage technology, Seagate;
- Charlie Smith, former VP WW sales, Brocade;
- Steve Colman, former VP, global alliances and OEM operations, Veritas;
- John Hamm, former EVP and GM, Adaptec, as well as founding board member of Brocade;
- Jim Schraith, former EVP of Quantum and VP and GM, Compaq;
- Steve Sicola, VP, Seagate, and former Compaq fellow; and
- Prashant Dholakia, former SVP, availability products group, Veritas.
