HDD Units Fall 8% Q/Q to 29 Million but Capacity Shipped Lifts to 196EB
Capacity shipments rise for nearline and 3.5″ CE, but unit volumes slip in all market sub-segments
Seagate
Capacity shipments of 89.57EB dipped a modest 2% Q/Q while total unit shipments fell 16% over the same period to 12.03 million HDDs.
Toshiba
It posted a dramatic 38% gain in sequential capacity shipments in 3CQ23, rising to 27.43EB while units climbed 20% over the same period to 6.23 million HDDs.
Western Digital
While nearline unit shipments declined 11% Q/Q to 3.25 million HDDs, a 14% jump in average capacity to 16.7TB resulted in a 2% rise in nearline capacity shipments to 54.36EB.
