This academic institution in Tianjin, China, is a renowned academic institution known for its research in AI and HPC.
However, supporting these projects requires a robust and scalable storage solution capable of handling massive amounts of data. To meet this challenge, the academic institution turned to Qsan Technology Inc.‘s enterprise-grade storage solution.
Challenge
Before upgrading the storage solution, the academic institution faced several challenges. First, its existing storage infrastructure was unable to keep up with the growing demands of its AI and HPC projects, leading to slow data access and processing times. Second, the lack of scalability and flexibility made it difficult for the institution to add storage capacity as needed to handle the massive data sets generated by its research projects. Finally, the institution needed a storage solution that could provide HA and data protection to ensure the integrity of its research data.
Solution:
The XCubeSAN 3326D storage system provides storage support and protection for massive data for the institution’s intelligent analysis platform. The hybrid flash storage array active-active solution ensures zero data loss and zero business interruption for core data operations. It realizes unified storage resource pools, providing storage space for applications such as wearable tracking and analysis systems, spatio-temporal behavior analysis systems, VR spatio-temporal behavior analysis systems, human-machine-environment testing cloud platforms, and facial recognition and analysis systems, achieving on-demand data flow. Normal operation of the institution’s intelligent analysis platform and has received high praise from users.
Qsan provided one XCubeSAN 3326D (single configuration with 256GB cache, 8x32Gb FC interfaces, 8x10GbE interfaces, 2 management ports, and 4x12Gb SAS expansion ports) and 3xXD5326Ds, with a total of 104×7.68TB SAS SSD HDDs configured by the user. The storage system is connected to the front-end server through 2x32Gb FC switches, and the server provides virtualized server clients, providing front-end servers with bandwidth of 12.8GB /S and performance of 1.3 million IO/s.
Benefits
After deploying Qsan storage solution, the academic institution saw significant improvements in its AI and HPC projects and was able to process larger data sets more quickly, enabling its researchers to gain new insights and develop more accurate models. The solution’s HA and data protection features also provided peace of mind to the institution’s IT staff, who no longer had to worry about data loss or downtime.
Finally, the solution’s scalability and flexibility allowed the institution to continue expanding its storage capacity to handle the massive data generated by its research projects.
“Qsan XS3326D has enabled us to quickly process the larger data sets in our HPC and AI projects, giving our researchers the ability to gain new insights and develop more accurate models,” said the academic institution.
