Compatibility of Toshiba MG10ACA Series 20TB 3.5-Inch SATA HDD with Microchip Adaptec 31xx and 32xx RAID Controllers
Confirmed compatibility of MG10 Series refers 6Gb SATA versions MG10ACA20TE/A
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 8, 2022 at 2:01 pmToshiba Electronics Europe GmbH announces that Microchip Technology, Inc. has completed compatibility testing of the company’s 20TB, 3.5-inch HDDs MG10ACA Series.
The operation of these HDDs is confirmed on all Adaptec 31xx and 32xx RAID controllers from Microchip.
“We are very pleased that our long-term cooperation with Microchip made the qualification of the MG10 generation with its adapters possible so soon after the market launch. Companies using Microchip adapter cards can now also install Toshiba’s 20TB MG10 enterprise drives,” says Rainer W. Kaese, senior manager, business development storage products.
The confirmed compatibility of the MG10 Series refers the 6Gb SATA versions MG10ACA20TE/A. (Compatibilty of the SAS 12GB versions MG10SCA20TE/A are planned soon after the launch as well). Tests were carried out on controller Series 31xx and 32xx. Not only were the basic functionality and compatibility of the interface checked, but hot-plug tests, power on tests and reboot tests were performed too. Long-term stability was also confirmed via a duration test. The MG10ACA hard drives have thus qualified for entry on Microchip’s compatibility list.
The compatibility testing conducted by Microchip follows on from tests that the company undertook on the firm’s enterprise capacity HDDs (models MG04 to MG09) and the enterprise performance HDD series (AL12 to AL15) in the past.
RAID controllers connect enterprise HDDs to the server, enabling the construction of network architectures. Their interplay ensures the functionality and operational stability of enterprise and cloud storage systems.
