This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 4, 2022 at 2:03 pmTranscend Information, Inc. released its industrial-grade 112-layer PCIe M.2 SSDs.
Coming with a M.2 2280 form factor and up to 2TB capacity, this series of SSDs is embedded with PCIe Gen4 x4 and PCIe Gen3 x4 interfaces. Leveraging advanced technologies and manufacturing process, the company enhances the drive performance and reliability, offering another durable storage solution for AI, 5G communication, enterprise servers, and IPC.
112-layer 3D NAND: Leap to the next-gen performance
Thanks to the new gen of 3D NAND flash technology, memory cells can be vertically stacked to 112 layers, and the storage density per cell reaches 1Tb, a 2x increase compared to 96-layer SSDs. 112-layer 3D NAND also delivers higher transfer speeds, 50% higher throughput than its predecessor. The 112-layer 3D NAND SSDs offer an endurance rating of 3K P/E cycles, and are able to operate securely under an extended temperature range (-20°C to 75°C). All drives have undergone tests to ensure that optimal reliability can support heavy industrial workloads.

PCIe Gen4 x4 interface faster
The company’s MTE720T SSD is designed with a PCIe Gen4 x4 interface and an 8-channel controller, complying with the NVMe 1.4 protocol. With DDR4 DRAM cache attached, its performance reaches 7,400/6,000MB/s for a range of data-rich applications. On top of that, Corner Bond and 30µ” PCB gold fingers are implemented to protect the key components, enhancing its durability and shock resistance.
Value-added technologies for performance
The 112-layer 3D NAND SSDs are built with firmware technologies for higher data integrity and stability. This includes ECC engine, Global Wear Leveling, bad block management, garbage collection, SMART. analysis, and Dynamic Thermal Throttling, which effectively monitors drive temperature to prevent overheating.
