History (1997): Seagate Agrees to Pay Amstrad $131 Million
For delivering defective drives
By Jean Jacques Maleval | November 17, 2021 at 2:01 pmAmslit Ltd., the UK company created in the reorganization of computer manufacturer Amstrad, reached an out-of-the court settlement with Seagate Technology worth about £75 million ($131 million), or a little less than the roughly $150 million.
Seagate was ordered to pay by the British High Court of Justice, for delivering defective drives to Amstrad (some years ago).
Amslit is now a subsidiary of Viglen Technology.
In a similar decision, Amstrad sued Western Digital for £70 million in Orange Country Superior Court in California.
