Phoenix International Systems AFA RPC24 2U Rackmount Rugged NAS With 2 Removable Magazines and Up to 12 SSDs Each

Phoenix International Systems, Inc. introduced its all flash SSD RPC24-NAS network file server, a high-capacity, performance edge storage solution that enables users to aggregate, store, move and activate their data.

The RPC24-NAS targets mobile (Air-Sea-Ground) and fixed expeditionary environments with its MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F certified design. This system was introduced at Sea-Air-Space 2021.

Edge computing can mean many different things, but for military users, the key is flexible, modular, and rugged systems that are proven and reliable in harsh tactical land, maritime, and airborne environments. The need for these rugged systems is paired with exponential growth in available data from a multitude of sensors and sources, structured and unstructured, and the need of the warfighter to make decisions faster. The RPC24- NAS houses 2 removable magazines with up to 12 SSDs each which can be removed to off load data. The magazines can then be moved to separate locations and plugged into another RPC24 on any other network for further analysis.

Data security is a key component to any edge storage system and the RPC24-NAS addresses this with optional support for AES-256 hardware and file level encryption, FIPS140-2 validation and hardware and/or software triggered Secure Erase and data elimination.

It allows networked devices to share and store data using all common network services. It supports a variety of network based file systems that allow multiple hosts to share and store information. Network connections are provided through load balanced Ethernet ports, available from GbE to 100GbE, and can support multiple optical (or copper) Ethernet ports for low EMI susceptibility.

For tactical edge rugged storage capabilities, the key is being able to combine the potential of the large commercial market (which has advanced beyond government capabilities due to huge investments), and get it into the form required to support warfighter environments.
