Seagate Exos CorVault 4U Storage Systems With 106 SAS HDDs or 1.9B Raw Capacity
Storage architecture combines 6th gen VelosCT ASIC, ADAPT erasure code data protection, and Autonomous Drive Regen.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 28, 2021 at 2:33 pmSeagate Technology Holdings plc launched a category of mass-capacity storage designed to streamline data management and reduce human intervention for macro edge and data center environments.
The Exos CorVault high-density storage system offers SAN-level performance built on the company’s storage architecture that combines the sixth gen VelosCT ASIC, ADAPT erasure code data protection, and Autonomous Drive Regen.
Designed on the Exos 4U106 12Gb platform, CorVault offers ‘five nines’ availability (99.999%) helping to deliver reliability. The 4U chassis accommodates 106 drives in 7 inches (18cm) of rack space. It is tuned to maximize drive performance by protecting vs. vibrational and acoustic interference, heat, and power irregularities.
The company’s VelosCT chip powers the system’s dual storage controllers, which optimizes all drive actuators in parallel, driving performance, while the firm’s Advanced Distributed Autonomic Protection Technology (ADAPT) distributes data across every drive offering advanced data protection and fast rebuilds without sacrificing performance.
Autonomous Drive Regen (ADR) is a self-correcting system that renews a drive in-situ without the need for a manual drive swap. Developed by the company, It can return most drives to dependable service by reconfiguring the drive to bypass errant components. The technology also helps reduce the environmental impact of computer e-waste as ADR drives are renewed instead of discarded.
CorVault will be available globally via qualified company’s distributors in July.
