Icy Dock FatCage RAID MB901SPR-B Dual 2.5/3.5-Inch SATA HDD/SSD Removable RAID-1 Mobile Rack Enclosure in 2×5.25-Inch Bay
For mission-critical computer systems, to make system work faster and to provide protection vs. critical data
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 6, 2021 at 2:32 pmIcy Dock announced the FatCage MB901SPR-B is a dual bay RAID enclosure that supports 2×2.5” or 3.5” SATA HDD or SSD in a 2×5.25” optical drive bay of a computer/workstation system.
With the built-in hardware RAID-1 chipset and easy to read RAID status LED indicators, the user can conveniently mirror the 2.5” drives for data redundancy without adding a RAID card or RAID monitoring software on the host end. Also, Central Process Unit (CPU) is normally required to calculate a RAID but, alternatively, having a RAID chipset on the enclosure frees up the CPU overhead and speeds up the whole system. Therefore MB902SPR-B is a removable drive enclosure for mission-critical computer systems that not only make your system work faster but also provide protection against your critical data.
Built-In RAID 1 (Safe Mode)
With the built-in JMS562 hardware RAID chipset, user can add 2 HDD/SSD RAID arrays to any system without needing a RAID controller card. The FatCage RAID MB901SPR-B automatically mirrors 2×2.5” or 3.5” SATA HDD/SSD for data redundancy to prevent system downtime caused by a single hard drive failure.
RAID status LED indicators
It is equipped with RAID status LED indicators for RAID health monitoring during the operation so users can grasp the live RAID status without installing the RAID monitoring software. However, if the application requires using RAID monitoring software, it is available for download and installation on Windows/Mac computers. Note: An optional RAID monitor software is available to download. Supporting both Windows and Mac.
Removable drive trays
The FatCage RAID features a removable EZ-Tray found throughout the FatCage/DataCage Series, allowing users to install or remove drives without opening the computer case or powering off the computer. With the EZ-trays, it supports 3.5” drives and also has a dedicated spot for 2.5” HDD/SSD, no additional converters or adapters are needed.
EMI grounding
Making sure your drives are properly grounded is important, especially through many drive swaps. Without it, there is a possibility that there may be static shocks that could damage drives or may result in losing important data. Firm’s EMI grounding technology ensures a stable and safe environment for the HDD/SSD used, which improves reliability.
Packed with features
Large ventilation holes are placed around the enclosure to work alongside the system’s cooling system to keep drives at optimal temperatures.
The MB901SPR-B supports 15-pin power cables with locking latches, so user will not worry about the cables unintentionally discounting from enclosure. Once the cables are connected, they will stay in place.
