Icy Dock ToughArmor RAID MB902SPR-B Ruggedized 2×2.5-Inch SATA HDD/SSD Removable Drive in 5.25-Inch Bay
Built-in hardware RAID-1 chipset and LED indicators to read status
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 3, 2021 at 2:31 pmIcy Dock announced the ToughArmor RAID MB902SPR-B, a ruggedized metal dual bay removable drive enclosure that supports 2×2.5” SATA HDD or SSD in a single optical 5.25” drive bay of a computer/workstation system.
With the built-in hardware RAID-1 chipset and read RAID status LED indicators, the user can mirror the 2.5” drives for data redundancy without adding a RAID card or RAID monitoring software on the host end. In addition, Central Process Unit (CPU) is normally required to calculate a RAID but, alternatively, by having a RAID chipset on the enclosure, it frees up the CPU overhead and speeds up the whole system. Therefore MB902SPR-B is a removable drive enclosure for mission-critical computer systems that make your system work faster and also provides protection against your critical data.
Built-In RAID-1 (Safe mode)
With the built-in JMS562 hardware RAID chipset, the user can create a 2.5” SSD/HDD RAID-1 array in any system without using a RAID controller card. The ToughArmor RAID MB902SRP-B automatically mirrors 2×2.5” SATA HDD/SSD for data redundancy to prevent system downtime caused by a single hard drive failure.
RAID status LED indicators
It is equipped with easy to read RAID status LED indicators for users to understand the current drive status without using a RAID monitoring software. However, if the application requires using a RAID monitoring software, it is available to download and install on Windows/Mac computers.
Removable drive trays
The MB902SPR-B features metal removable EZ-Slide drive trays found throughout the ToughArmor Series, allowing users to install or remove 5-15mm height drives without opening the computer case or powering off the computer.
EMI grounding
Making sure the drives are properly grounded is important, especially through many drive swaps. Without it, there is a high possibility that there may be static shocks that could damage your drives or may result in losing your important data. Firm’s EMI grounding technology ensures a stable and safe environment for the HDD/SSD used, which improves reliability.
Safe and secure
Ruggedized metal chassis and trays ensure drive security and further aids in drive heat dissipation. A built-in anti-vibration mechanism helps to reduce noise and protects vs. environmental damage.
Packed with features
Large ventilation holes are placed around the enclosure to work alongside the computer’s cooling system to keep the drives operating at optimal temperatures.
The ToughArmor MB902SPR-B supports SATA 7 pin data and 15 pin power cables with locking latches, so you will not need to worry about the cables unintentionally disconnecting from the enclosure. Once the cables are connected, they will stay in place.
Make ToughArmor On-The-GO! with MB991U3-1SB
To access data outside of the system or in a remote location, the ToughArmor MB991U3-1SB is the way to go about. The drive tray slot of MB991U3-1SB is compatible with ToughArmor drive trays including the MB991, MB992, MB994, MB996 and MB998 series. This allows existing ToughArmor users to access their internal drive externally without opening up the case. It is a tool for an individual drive diagnostic test. If you need to do a safe data erase or just expending system storage capacity, remove the tray from the internal ToughArmor unit and insert it in the MB991U3-1SB to perform individual tasks externally with USB 3.0 interface. MB991U3-1SB uses USB bus-powered and it does not require a power adapter to operate. Connect the USB cable to any system and you are ready to go.
