History (1995): Maxoptix Became Fully-Owned Subsidiary of Kubota
Bob Root will continue as president and CEO.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 3, 2021 at 2:21 pmThe statements made by Bob Root, president and CEO of Maxoptix (San Jose, CA) in our January 1995 issue have been almost entirely confirmed by the facts: Maxtor, which then controlled almost 65% of Maxoptix, is now no longer a shareholder in the Californian company.
But there was no “sort of MBO,” as Root predicted.
The Japanese company, Kubota, already a 35% shareholder of Maxoptix, simply bought the remaining 65% from Maxtor
The buyer is more precisely Kubota Electronic American Corp., the US holding company for Kubota Corp. of Japan. There will be no management changes, the company said.
Root will continue as president and CEO, a post he has held since May 1993.
