Top Fastest Growing Storage Companies in 2020
Rewind +1,113%, Lightbits +500%, Vast Data +490%, WekaIO +400%, etc.
By Jean Jacques Maleval | February 8, 2021 at 2:18 pmThis article is regularly updated when we will get more information from other companies.
Yearly since 2013, we are ranking the top fastest growing storage companies in sales, either start-ups, private or public firms, here from 2019 to 2020 (calendar year or fiscal year), based on published figures only.
This time, they are all privately held and, as usual, do not reveal the exact figure of their sales but growth percentage only.
In 2019, four public companies deserved a position in our ranking: Dropbox, Mellanox and Pure Storage already listed in 2018, plus Cloudera. No one in 2020.
One company recorded 500% growth in 2018, Rubrik, Weka, 600% in 2019. For 2020, 1,113% by Rewind is an historically record, the former one being 800% by Nakivo in 2013.
Rewind is followed by Lightbits +500%, Vast Data +490% and WekaIO +400%.
Here are companies being on top list for 2 consecutive years: WekaIO, Wasabi, Scality and Veeam.
Few or none of the companies listed are profitable, the bigges one being Veeam above $1 billion in annual recurring revenue.
Of course we missed all the private storage companies that didn’t reveal anything on their financial activity. For two reasons: 1/ they are successful but neglect to inform us about it; 2/ they are not successful and prefer not divulge their results.
Among all of them, the majority is involved in software, cloud and flash.

Note: Other companies could be probably included in this table of fastest growing storage firms in 2020 but they didn’t prove it by publishing precisely their yearly growing figures: Cloudian, DDN (+58% from 2018 to 2020), Exagrid, Kasten by Veeam, MSys Technologies, Nasuni, OwnBackup, Rubrik and Zerto.
