HighPoint Shipping AIC NVMe Drives and RAID Host Controllers
Based on Marvell NevoX driverless bootable RAID solution
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 7, 2021 at 2:16 pmHighPoint, Inc. is shipping AIC NVMe drives and RAID host controllers based on the Marvell’s NevoX Driverless bootable RAID solution.
SSD6200 Series bootable AIC NVMe drives deliver over 7,000MB/s of transfer performance, and are available with up to 32TB of capacity for Linux, Windows and VMware platforms.
In addition to these pre-configured AIC NVMe drives, the company unveiled a new range of NVMe RAID controllers designed for industrial solution providers and VARs.
Available with up to 4 independent M.2 ports, SSD6202/6204 RAID host controllers enable solution providers to offer custom-tailored, bootable NVMe RAID volumes for a range of industrial applications.
SSD6200 Series Bootable NVMe AIC Drives
They deliver 4TB to 32TB of fast bootable NVMe drives. The simple plug-and-play design is for professionals that need NVMe storage without IT-level skill requirements or the hassle and time-sink of a DIY solution.
Select either 4TB or 8TB of storage capacity, and you are good to go – everything is shipped pre-configured and is ready for use, right out of the box.
SSD6200 NVMe RAID Controller Series for Industrial Solution Providers and VARs
SSD6202 and SSD6204 NVMe host RAID controllers are designed for industrial solution providers and VARs. Each PCIe 3.0 x8 host controller features integrated RAID-0, -1 and JBOD technology and is capable of supporting M.2 NVMe SSD of any capacity.
Each controller is equipped with a BIOS/CLI/Web-based RAID management suite that enables solution providers to deliver bootable RAID volumes with up to 32TB of storage capacity, and Gen4-like transfer performance, for a range of end-customer applications and OS platforms. The single-width form factor is easy to integrate into industry standard and custom-fabricated computer and rackmount chassis.
- SSD6202: 2-Port NVMe RAID host controller / single-width, half-length, low-profile
- SSD6204: 4-Port NVMe RAID host controller / single width, full-length, full-height
Deploy Integration Ready NVMe storage with plug and play installation
The SSD6200 series enable solution providers to deploy pre-configured, plug-and play, bootable NVMe storage drives for a range of applications and hardware environments.
As most modern OSs support SSD6200-based solutions natively, there is no need for device driver installation, complicated management interfaces, or software updates; this can reduce the overhead Customer Support services.
In addition, SSD6200 series controllers require no internal drive bays; each controller directly hosts the M.2 SSDs; this frees up the target host platform’s internal drive bays for additional storage expansion.
RAID Mode Selection
SSD6200 controllers can tailor NVMe storage for specific applications with the integrated hardware RAID technology. The RAID arrays are seamless and completely transparent for the end-customer; OSs will automatically recognize the RAID volumes as single NVMe drives.
- RAID-1 (Priority: Security) – This mode creates a hidden duplicate of the target SSD, and requires 2 NVMe SSDs to configure. RAID-1 is for bootable configurations, as it reduces the risk of downtime in the event of a disk failure. The 4-port SSD6200 controller can support dual RAID-1 arrays.
- RAID-0 (Priority: Speed) – Also known as a “stripe” array, this mode is for applications that require maximum performance and storage capacity. RAID-0 arrays require a minimum of 2 NVMe SSDs. The 4-port SSDS6200 controller can support 2×2-disk RAID-0 arrays or a single large 4-disk configuration.
Ships with Professional RAID Management Tools
Three storage configuration interfaces are available for SSD6200 Series RAID controllers.
- BIOS Level Marvell NVMe Configuration utility: BIOS level RAID management is for mass-production requirements, as it integrated into NevoX capable motherboard platforms. The intuitive interface uses standardized motherboard BIOS menus and settings to configure storage.
- UEFI CLI: The Marvell UEFI Command Line Interface (CLI) tool is for the tech-savvy VAR who prefers simple, streamlined interface with a rich command set
- MP-Tool: Simple GUI
OEM/ODM Engineering Services
Customers need more than a one-size-fits-all approach to NVMe technology. Industrial solution providers may have unique form factor, dimensional restraints, controller board placement considerations, or specific RAID creation and workflow requirements.
HighPoint has been designing, developing, manufacturing and deploying Marvell-based storage solutions for over 16 years, and are ready to assist OEM/ODM clients integrate NevoX NVMe technology into a custom designed and manufactured PCIe RAID controller card. Its current platform delivers 1 to 4 channel NVMe connectivity via a PCIe 3.0 x8 and x4 host interface, and incorporates Marvell’s 88NR2241 NVMe switch chipset.
