Delivers replication management with simplified and automated replication tasks.

IBM Copy Services Manager 6.2.11 delivers replication management with simplified and automated replication tasks

IBM Copy Services Manager is a replication management solution that delivers central control of replication environment while helping to simplify and automate complex replication tasks.

With it, you can coordinate copy services on a variety of IBM storage systems, including DS8000, SAN Volume Controller, Storwize V7000, FlashSystem A9000 and A9000R, and XIV.

You can help prevent errors and increase system continuity using source and target volume matching, site awareness, DR testing, and standby management.

Copy Services Manager 6.2.11 offers following improvements over previous release:

  • Consistency group and pool information for SVC-based storage systems are included when querying sessions through the REST API interface
  • Support for nested groups when using LDAP authentication
  • Migration session type provides global copy support for clients that have used the DSCLI or Copy Services Manager to create global copy relationships to migrate to larger volumes and is available for use on DS8000 series without a Copy Services Manager license entitlement
  • Enhancements to “no copy” warning prompt to ensure property is correctly set for a session and role pair
  • Discovery of preexisting FlashCopy relationships for SVC-based storage systems
  • Support for larger configurations when Copy Services Manager is installed on a DS8000 HMC with 32GB of memory
  • Greater role restrictions for better support in multitenant environments
  • “Wait for action” enhancements on scheduled tasks to check for latest progress on hardware
  • Ability to run another scheduled task upon successful completion or failure of the current task
  • Support for migrating Copy Services Manager servers configurations on z/OS
Support for connecting to z/OS sysplexes with the same name from a single Copy Services Manager server
  • Support for pass phrases when connecting to z/OS host systems from Copy Services Manager
  • Viewable charts of historical Global Mirror RPO (RPO) information in Copy Services Manager GUI
  • Viewable charts of historical logical subsystem (LSS) out of sync track (OOS) information in the Copy Services Manager GUI
  • REST API interface to retrieve a short list of sessions
  • LUN serial numbers for volumes in the GUI, CLI, and REST API interfaces
  • An option in session properties to fail a FlashCopy if the target volumes are online for FlashCopy and practice sessions
  • An ESESizer session type that collects data in order to help in sizing SafeGuarded Copy configurations
  • Performance improvements for Safeguarded Copy and FlashCopy sessions in mainframe environments when corresponding IOS APAR OA59561 is applied to the z/OS system

IBM Copy Services Manager delivers support for advanced copy services capabilities on DS8000 systems, in addition to the already supported SVC, Storwize V7000, and XIV systems. These capabilities include automating administration and configuration of these services, operational control of copy services tasks (starting, suspending, and resuming), and monitoring and managing the copy services sessions.

Copy Services Manager supports Metro Mirror, FlashCopy, and Global Mirror on the DS8000 and SVC hardware platforms.

DR functions are also supported with failover/failback (planned and unplanned) from a primary site to a DR site. Copy Services Manager can also monitor the performance of the copy services that provide a measurement of the amount of replication and the amount of time that is required to complete the replication operations. It also supports multitarget with practice capability for both Metro Mirror and Global Mirror.

By using Copy Services Manager on DS8000 storage devices, tasks that took up to 5 steps can be accomplished in just one. The practice session enables to test DR environment without interfering with daily operations to run a practice session before performing the actual action.
